Why does it matter if he was an off duty cop? He was off duty and presumably working a 2nd job as a bouncer. He pushed a bouncer, the whole "off-duty cop" business just tries to make it sound much more egregious than someone pushing a bouncer which happens in every club every night.

It depends on department rules and regulations honestly.

Some departments let a officer "activate" themselves , even while working part time jobs. If he truely did identify himself as a officer (badge displayed as well), then he is fucked.

If the off-duty did not identify himself, then it will probably stick as a misdemeanor assault and battery charge anyways.

I saw a bunch of those pics of athletes of all kinds while at the gym. Some looked pretty badass. Those fatty hecklers in the stands really need to take another look at just how huge some of these guys are the next time they start spitting fire at one of the players on the sidelines.
