What did he rush for after signing his contract? I forget.

He had no training camp and had new coaches. He will bounce back. With Manning, he would explode. EXPLODE.

Does Manning have some special talent for opening up gaps and handing off the ball in a special way that I don't know about.

The 49ers have a direct interest in keeping Manning away from the NFC West. Their emergence as a possible destination delays the process. That is bad for the Cardinals, who must decide by 4 p.m. ET Friday whether to keep incumbent quarterback Kevin Kolb with a $7 million bonus. Whether or not the 49ers are serious candidates for Manning, their involvement later in the process works against the one NFC West team to defeat the 49ers last season, Arizona.

    ARI out the race officially:
The Peyton Manning derby appears to be down to three teams.

While the Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers are still in the mix, Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said Arizona is moving on with Kevin Kolb, who received his $7 million bonus from the team on Friday.

"Since the end of last season we made it very clear that our plan was to head into 2012 with Kevin Kolb and John Skelton, let the process play out and -- like at every position -- go with the quarterback who gives us the best chance to win," Whisenhunt said in a team statement.

"Obviously something very unique and unexpected presented itself. We've said it many times: if there's an opportunity to make our team better we'll explore it; we view the potential of adding a first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback as one of those. The organization quickly put together an aggressive plan to go after it. We're proud of that and feel very strongly about what we have to offer as a team and as an organization. In the end it didn't work out but from our perspective it was very positive and we certainly don't have any regrets about it.

General manager Rod Graves said in February that Arizona would likely pick up Kolb's bonus, but the pursuit of Manning muddied the waters.

Whisenhunt clarified the team is ready to move on with who they have.

"We sit here today in the same spot we were heading into the offseason. That's with two experienced quarterbacks who have both demonstrated positive things in the past and who we feel good about. Like we said at the end of the season when we won seven of the last nine games, carrying the momentum of that strong finish into 2012 is important and that remains unchanged."

uh... no one had training camp. He's an above average back that overachieved.

Given your name, you can't be this ignorant? TN would obviously see less congestion in the box...

Your excuse for his drop in production is no training camp, which NOONE had yet several other RB with good Olines, like the Texans, had no issue staying productive(I'd say Ravens but that would require them to actually call running plays). The Titans QB situation last year was far from terrible, so you're somehow telling me that a 100% Peyton Manning will somehow change ALL of the issues with CJ1k. I'm not sure if you're seeing the problem here.

Signing Hutch and soon Wells (looks like its happening right now as I type this) will help a ton. Manning would push the D back and we can actually complete wide open passes. Thus opening up more lanes to the run. You know how it works or you wouldn't be in the thread. At least, I hope.

You are under the impression Hasselbeck hit wide open players all day. There was separation on so many plays and he completely missed them. Was the situation better than Vince Young? Yes. Was it good? No. Did Locker actually do a better job? Yes. Would he be the starter in 2012 either way? No. So, do TN fans want Manning? Yes. Those that don't think Locker will be the starter over Matt.

I don't think TEN ran as much last year but that probably had a lot to do with every time they tried to run it CJ was getting stuffed and unproductive

4 years, 24M for Wells. 6M a year - more than the Packers wanted to spend.

We're quite center-less at the moment though Evan Dietrich-Smith at starting center next year? Ugh. He's been a mediocre guard at everything other than untying Suh's shoelaces and getting stomped.

Peyton needs to pick a god damned team already. His deal is going to affect the talks with Brees no doubt.

Brees was franchised right? That means the saints have exclusive rights to match any offer given to him, no? Why is no one offering him a contract? He's well worth 2 first round picks.

Kyle Kosier released, meaning that between 2010 and next year, the Cowboys have a completely new starting O-Line.
