I didn't misread squat. You cited four. You even said, "the other three", not "I remember the last three" or "I remember three" or anything of the sort. You cited four, you used language to make it all-inclusive. You didn't say you weren't alive for one, was too young for one, and remember the other three.

Well since it's the closest thing to an actual question about me being a fan of two teams in quite some time so I'll try and give you an actual answer.

Living in a 2 team market a lot of old school fans hate the other fan base even though there is not a real rivalry there. SF fans hate OAK fans and vice versa, the only time they even play each other is in preseason, it's what I like to refer to as a faux rivalry. I've never understood why the teams hate the other so much, it doesn't benefit one team if the other loses. I feel the exact same about my baseball teams as I do about my football teams, I always choose SF over OAK when they face each other. It's not even me being a huge Raiders/A's fan as much as it is me making a statement that I do not HATE them. I like to see them do well, I do go to both Raiders games and A's games and root for them wearing my A's/Raiders shit. I own a shit ton more SF gear though and am much more passionate about those teams. Most of the people who just hate the other fan base are either old school people set in their ways or they're straight up ghetto ass bangers, they're the ones you read about nation wide and end up stabbing or shooting each other over nothing. I think those types of fans hurt the sport, I don't want anything to do with that type of bullshit.. they're the reason why my OAK friends can't bring their families to the games, it's just stupid.

If you lived in the Bay you would see that it's becoming less and less about the rivalries between the teams, more and more people are realizing the hatred is fucking lame. I had a ton of Raiders fans say really positive things to me out in public when the Niners were doing well and made it to the playoffs, they were rooting for us and were just happy to see someone from the Bay doing well for once. They would always start off by saying HEY I'M A RAIDERS FAN..... but they had good things to say and wished us the best. Even the sports radio in the Bay area supports all our Bay area teams where as before the old AM stations would latch onto one team and constantly put down the other. Yeah I'm never going to stop giving my OAK friends shit about the Raiders and have fun ribbing them but it used to mostly be about which one of our shitty teams will have a better record or when we faced each other in preseason etc. We are surrounded by both 49er and Raider fans out here, my friends, my family, my co-workers.. what good does it do hating on them or wanting to see them do bad? I would rather root against the divisional rivals of both teams and save my hatred for those. Best case scenario we end up with Battle of the Bay like we had in baseball back in the day, it was a special time.


tl;dr It's not even me being a huge Raiders/A's fan as much as it is me making a statement that I do not HATE them.. it's a unique market we live in and only the NY/NJ markets could relate I would imagine.
