jesus christ, tebow gets paid like 6-7 mil per year
Aw man, you mean I get weekly articles about Tebow replacing Mark Sanchez and all the drama surrounding it, just by being a NYC resident and a Giants fan? This next season is looking wonderful.
Nah. He gets like 1.5M/year. What's happening is a clause in the contract where if Tebow is traded before his contract expires, a portion of the guaranteed money that Denver paid gets sent back to them. The contract is backloaded a ton, so next year (last year of his contract), he's slated for something like 6.5M. Averaged out, his contract was something around 2.5-3M/year.
Fucking lol
Weird. Every Denver commentator I've read/listened to talked about his contract like next year was the last year of it, anyway. But I know this year he only counted 1.5M against the cap. Both Jets and Broncos FOs screwed this up, though. Broncos should have let the Jags know the Jets had offered 4+6 for 7+Tebow, and demanded a 3rd + 5th. Jags owner wants Tebow badly enough, he'd probably go to a 2nd if the Jets matched the Jets offer. They were in such a rush to get rid of him, though, that they didn't let a surprisingly hot market play itself out. The Jets, for their part, didn't even read the damned contract when they were making offers. Plus, they wanted Tebow in the first place. Which is worse.
brady restructures contract to save the pats 7m+ this year. We weren't yet close to the cap really (still had 8-9m in room I believe), so I wonder if there is a move incoming...
He gets like two for the year, and the Jets gave 2.5 to Denver out of pocket (not against the cap) in compensation, which is what the holdup was. Pulling 6.1 out yo ass or what?
They gonna sign drew breese bro.
P.S. @ Tyche. Should i be scared Sparano is gonna go too far with wildcat game planning? I always liked me a few Brad Smith plays, but i dont wanna see more than 5/game at most
I honestly don't see them going crazy with the wildcat. I think he's actually a backup that may get a few goal line packages. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the field with Sanchez. If I were to guess, he'll see the field in some non traditional, non-wildcat formations.
It's just such a shitty shitty fit for everyone. Opposite personalities, terrible for Sanchez, terrible media market for Tebow. I honestly cannot think of a worse fit for Tebow or for the jets. Maybe it's just a move to try to keep that lockerooom in check. They could use a Tebow to grab that lockerooom by balls, but for Tebow to do it, he'll need to be in a leadership role. He won't be, howver. maybe he can take santonios captain badge lol.
Before Tebow got the starter job in Florida he was your short yardage back that rarely threw the ball whether it was 3rd and short or just on the goaline. I could see the Jets having packages for him in those situations.
Az is way worse off than saints.... Now 49ers....
I don't understand the concept of it being "classy" either if they're taking less salary. How many people calling a pay cut classy would take one for the team from their own employer and accept less money
