One doc on call seems like a money issue though, maybe you all should check into where your govt is putting that money you say you pay. Bet that not as much of that money reaches them as you might think.

Any system can be succesful if you're scary enough to make everyone works.

I don't understand what you're trying to say. You said:

We're reaching a point where it will be cheaper to send people in Cuba for health care
It sounded like you were implying that cuban healthcare was lower quality and cheaper because it is a poorer country. I corrected my perception of what you meant, and then you posted a comment with no relevance to my response.

My bad, I was under the impression that you were saying that free healthcare can works anywhere if Cuba can do it...or something like that.

Medical tourism exists for a reason. It's actually much faster to get treated over here, and also cheaper if you don't mind paying twice (still have to pay your taxes over here).

Yep. Fuck yeah unions. And it's all paid for by the government.

Honestly, i don't know how people without (good) insurance even manage to survive. Healthcare is outrageously expensive, even for the little of things.

Maybe they would see more tourists and money if people weren't mysteriously disappearing when they stray from the road.

Do you not understand that "free" mean "paid with your taxes"? The cost is added on top of everything else you already give them

I will tell you where the money is going. Half the employees in most hospitals have administrative task. No private company could ever survive with a productivity this low, and this is one of the many reason why our hospitals are bleeding money.

We also pay our drugs twice as much because our generous health care mean that pharmaceutical industry can easily feast on it. Everything is overpriced due to poor regulation, and this is an issue for both private and public healthcare.

On one side, you have the pharmaceutical industry being greedy as fuck, on the other side you have unions slowing down the system even more with their mafia-like behavior. The system is rotten on both end.

So, I'm getting from this thread, that this isn't about universal healthcare sucking, just that Canada sucks. Which isn't really new.

Why not look to the way other countries do it if you want to reform?

Simplest answer is probably the fact that the countries which successfully implement UHC are significantly smaller than giants like Canada and the US. It complicates the process quite a bit.

Only complications I would see this creating is red tape bullshit, rather than the actual reform goals.

A greed-based health-care system is the worst kind of health-care system imaginable.

Take it from a guy in one.

Hey, here's a fun one. Ask us how our medical research into medicine is going! Especially against what's developed and what the costs are!

Lady, we all pay taxes, ok? Canucks are not special. France pays taxes and their healthcare fucking owns. What's your point? I pay taxes and it goes towards bailouts, bullets and tanks. I WISH I had the option of putting my tax dollars toward not going into medical bill debt. I get that its not free, but you're jockeying for sympathy from Americans who don't even get to put any of their taxes toward medical care. Our taxes get squandered on way dumber shit than yours, I promise you.

    Easier said than done.

Problems are going to arise when the populations will stop caring about public affair, and lose the sentiment of responsibility they should have toward their state. America and Canada are pretty good at this, but once Europe catch up, expect the same downward spiral.

On the bright side, there is always someone who does worse than you

France's healthcare is doing better than our for now, but the country has its share of problems with unemployment rising pretty fast (was close to 10% last time I heard). The quality can go to the shitter if the productivity goes down, and it's something we should look forward in the next few years given the unstable context.
