. Also, it might be the nature of the industry but afaik the most successful MMOs still don't have sequels/prequels (talking WoW obviously.)
also no, I did not know that's how GW2 came into existence, though it is smart from a business standpoint, creating a new game instead of updating an older one. creates more hype, money on box sales and it's probably easier to just start from scratch. I'd prefer a career mmo which was always being developed/upgraded to meet the needs of its playerbase instead of being thrown aside and then recreated years later, to me it doesn't seem very loyal. I guess I just don't like the new mmo hype as much as everyone else, starting over in a new game has never had much appeal after you've done it on 10+ mmos.
