Well, the gear you get from glory and tournament chests still has all the same stats as the starter gear, it just looks different.
Be sure to note that the starter gear is PVP starter gear, (which shouldn't be called starter gear, since all spvp gear has the same stats), and not the starter gear you wear in pve when you start the game, some people might get mixed up.
But, anyways its all about looks in the end. PVE and PVP, obtaining max stats in pve is really not something to be considered working towards as it will be very easy to obtain. What does compensate in PVE is the fact that there are so many options that creating multiple sets for different scenarios would be fun and useful.
When you're in combat you suffer the movement speed slow. If you disengage from a fight and no one is clearly near you for extended period of time (like 10-15 it gets ridiculously high) you're supposed to exit combat and regen to full.
PvE seems to work fine but PvP is really inconsistent in my experience. Kill a guy -> no one around, regen to full. Kill a guy -> someone is coming -> run away -> stays in combat so I run slow -> inevitably catch up to me and I never regen'd -> die.
That's obviously not how it always goes but sometimes it happens similar to that.
I think it's a distance thing.
I noticed this a lot in WvW, and I think it would happen vs pets and guards. I guess the guards don't get to leash and reset if they change targets, yet they still remember you at a huge distance. I say pets as well, since I know I've been on top of a wall guarding a keep and would get stuck in combat as well. Running far enough away would fix it regardless, just a bit annoying.
Can anyone give me a bit more insight on dungeons and how hard they are? I only got my Guardian to 20 before BEW3 ended.
Hard, and extremely dependent on individual performance. Aggro is hard to gauge at times let alone maintain, so everybody has to be in a constant state of damage mitigation. Its hard for a lot of people accustomed to "tank and spank" to adjust to.
Explorable modes take that same mentality to a new level by requiring extreme amounts of teamwork/combos for smooth fights.
Imagine your most chaotic runs through standard dungeons in other games, where the tank sucks and stuff is everywhere. That's intended design, and you're given the tools to deal with it individually.
Hmm, sounds interesting. Is there any type of system where you can group with other people from different servers?
yes you can its called "Guesting" you can visit any server you have friends freely, and do everything with them except for WvW.

Sweet, will make stuff easier on me hopefully if my friends are spread out.
Well I have a few friends from all over, so the odds of us being on the same server are pretty slim.
Not only that but they are "tiering" transfer costs. 22.50 to transfer to a High Pop server, 12.50 to Medium and 6.25 to a Low Pop. They did this during this BWE, and I can only assume that prices may change but the tier'ed costs will continue. Remembering that they won't will have free transfers for a short time, but after that, it will cost after that.
random question:
can ppl log on the official website? I get wrong password after the purchase everytime.
I just logged in successfully. Did you have a G1 account before? My first reaction is if you didn't merge accounts then it's wanting your GW1 info.
Anyone else having trouble creating a character? I can log in with my Guardian just fine, but when I go to create a second character I can't get past the intro. After it's done I just see a black screen even when I use the Skip to End button.
