Anyone having issues validating email? Was asked to change it when I prepurchased from the ncsoft one I had before, when I login I hit send the email, click the link in the email, get an invalid/expired error.
Redeemed my serial code through the website and I didn't get my pre-order bonuses. Do I have to wait longer or something?
Where is everyone finding gear and quest information? Is there even a go too site yet?
I've been using www.guildhead.com
Sorry, I haven't really kept up on the game, but seeing/hearing everyone have so much fun has me feeling left out lol... was thinking of getting the wife in on it, too, but I was wondering if there was any sort of "level sync" system, or sidekick, whatever you know it as. Thanks
You are automatically scaled down to an appropriate level for the area you're in - so yes!
Your level is scaled (down) to whatever the level of the area you're questing in is. This is dynamic throughout zones. For instance, the beginning zones span 1-15, you'll often find yourself scaled down a level or two depending on the area you're in.
I know this game doesn't do it in the traditional sense, but how would you go about tanking in this game? Story mode of the level 30 dungeon was pretty rough so thinking maybe I should try to find a way to help keep my group alive on Guardian instead of being burn/DPS.
Heal/buff people and CC shit.
There is no traditional "tanking" in the game. There are people better suited for the task of controlling a mob though. Many professions have a decent amount of control. The thing with doing the GW2 dungeons is that people think just because there is no trinity that they can go in and be successful in any old trait/weapon combination they feel like. That is not the case. While you can clear Catacombs with 5 people who don't try and take care of each other that simply will not work as you go on.
Professions that have a lot of control should use it. Guardian is an awesome choice for this. Sword/Mace + Shield gives you a lot of support options as well as a couple of control options as well. Staff can be a life saver if used properly as well. Remember they didn't give you all those knockbacks and wall moves just for PvP/WvW. They expect you to use them just as effectively in PvE.
A couple of good support characters can mean the difference between a fun and enjoyable GW2 dungeon or a completely horrible and expensive one. Also, its not all about the Guardian (although the guardian has some of the easiest support/control options.) Every class has the option to do a little of something that's needed to survive in a dungeon.
The biggest thing people need to learn how to do is place their ground combo's correctly. The group who spams the ground under the boss with poison and fire is the group who doesn't understand how to use them.
But... but I like my green circle of death on the bosses feet.
Kidding. I haven't even done an instance yet. I probably won't even do one, considering I never party and you can't solo them.
Well you can "tank" if your stupid enough to try it like i am. Its all about getting into the mobs face enough, with a shield and dodging those big hits that you see coming or atleast interrupting them.
Pretty much what Niwaar said. It's very important for everyone to be unselfish and not only work together with cross combos but also build properly for cc/support. One stubborn person in the group that doesn't want to do either and just wants to dps will really make your runs painful.
Well I found a good support builds this morning I'm going to look over to help out my group next time we fight. And yeah I agree about the combo thing, I just didn't have the table with me at the time to look over. I'll print that off durin gmy lunch break today.
The R30 dungeon was fun as hell though. We got stomped at the start but managed to do better wihere we only wiped to the lover in terms of bosses. Those archers are a pain in the ass though with how strong their condition damage is.
How does one get the POI on the inquest citadel place in the N/NW part of metrica province?
There's a teleport in a cave at the NW section of the map (Transfer Gate POI). And the Inquest Complex is at the NE part of the map.
