am i doing it wrong if i'm 66 and just via questing/etc I don't have enough money to buy the lvl 60 trait book?
Yes. I had 4 G when I bought my 60 book without doing any dungeons or anything. AH wasn't working at that point either so I wasn't selling crap there. Start vendoring all the blues and greens you get, if you want to salvage for crafting mats do it with whites since they're worth fuck all comparatively. Might sound stupid but lots of people don't realize it, but heart quests give money too, the completion mail they send has money attached, always remember to grab that. If you really need it now (lots of people don't actually dump more than 20 in one tree at that point) whisper me (Kogarenzan in game) and I'll shoot you some dosh.
I salvaged literally everything, lost 1.5g on the stupid cow betting thing, didn't have access to the AH but still had more then enough cash to get the 60 book the second I hit that level.
i've spent a lot on cooking before i really knew what i was doing since it leveled me fairly fast, i salvage everything and have all the mats still, i don't really ever vendor, i guess i probably should start
What is the best Dynamic Event just to sit and wait for while doing something else irl (ie. homework)? I'm level 55 now and I'm using the Centuar events in Harathi Highlands which give you 4x Events within 30~ minutes. Is there any better?
I don't think there really is one. Waiting for a specific chain likely won't wind up any more productive than chasing smaller events in a zone. At the same time, later ones like dragons are either on timers or will depend on temple control. Makes me wanna facepalm when in Orr and see, "Is Grenth up?" in chat when the WP isn't X'd out.
Best one before you start hitting the orr exp jackpot, has gotta be in Sparkling Fen, just north of the dragon spawn. There's a quest where you protect an asura lab... i think it's 4 or 5 waves of enemies during a 5 minute timer. The event is triggered constantly because the zone population is so high from people waiting for the dragon. You can afk safely in the lab, run out and kill a few mobs to trigger the reward or whatever time allows, and when the dragon comes up, just run over and kill it. The exp is great.
Is "The Battle of Fort Trinity" (The level 70 quest) bugged or something? My map says to use an Asuran Gate to get to the fort, but all the gates are closed off and the guards won't let me through because the area is under construction.
Think that's just a glitch of sorts showing you the fastest route to the story location, unfortunately it's a route you can't take yet... you can get to Straits of Devastation (the map you need) through Mount Maelstrom or Sparkfly Fen iirc.
Okay I'll take a look at that. I had a feeling I could get there on foot, but no clue where the hell I had to go.
What accessories have people been using on 80 thief? I've been using rare emerald stuff (precision/toughness/power), but have finally decided to actually spend money and buy a set of exotics. I was debating between the knight stuff I've been using, or maybe valkyrie for the extra vitality. The crit damage will be pretty much useless to me, as I'll only have like 29% crit with that stuff, which turns me off to it a bit.
29% sounds really low. As Mesmer, in full orange Rampage gear, I've a 57% crit rate; are you sure you've calculated correctly?
I was looking at hero page at the time. The only precision gear I use is on accessories, and I'm pretty sure I didn't have my traits set at the time, so that's why.
Edit: nvm, that's with the +300 precision from traits.
Mesmer may be the odd duckling then, as I run in full Rampager's gear, and pop stuff like a balloon, with 60% crit (80% on phantoms which also proc a bleed on crit, for 90 a tic). Multiple mobs also aren't usually a problem unless they all do knock back or stunlock me, due to my Regen/Protection build and Phansoms tanking/distracting(up to 5 targets if my Tropical Bird sigil procs). I can run it in WvWvW, if I'm sitting in a position where I can rain fire on enemies, with little risk of death. I also have a Karma/Accessory set of gear, with something like 600 toughness and ~200+ stats for everything else but VIT, that I usually run there if I'm going to be in the thick of things, which usually lets me survive everything but running into invisible hordes.
This is probably obvious, but is there a world boss for each zone?
There's a big event for every zone. I don't recall if they all ended in bosses, but there was always one event that you could see the progress of where ever you were on that specific map.
And that answered my 2nd question if they were all tied to metas. Thanks. Never had the patience to wait, but since I'm 78 I thought I'd start gearing up and fighting 80 spawns to try and craft a Dusk.
