If he had to put in codes or whatever to register, I'd say he'd be in the green. Though it's the first I've heard of companies directly taking money from one game to buy you another, basically cutting out a step if he'd do that himself.

and it's a great way to show support for the devs, especially since it's buy2play...you could've at least sold your gold and buy the game from ANet with that money.

The RMT site bought it, the devs got paid as much as retails stores pay them. If I like it, I probably won't have WoW anymore so I'll be paying $$ for the oodles of expansions.

    that's what you think.

edit: to clarify I meant, they could've just bought it from another player incl. reg codes etc.

it's actually a disturbingly (because they have made such a stable business out of an illicit trade) trustworthy site that I have used for almost a year now to get wow time cards.

I did want the game for a while, but when I went to the RMT site to get more time cards a few days ago, I found out that gold prices tripled and I had lots to spare, then I saw the list of games they sell keys to... That's why I've only put about 40 minutes into the game since I got it.

I got a photo of the key and made my own account for the game, the same way they give out time card codes, so I'm guessing they either buy them retail or have retail accounts to order such things in bulk.

I may not have paid $$, but I'm pretty sure there is nothing being stolen here.

It's still bugged. If you move it won't work 50% of the time.

I know the holy trinity system doesn't really play out and I'm not sure if I like everyone beings dps. I tend to favor support and tank roles quite a lot. Also how is the endgame, if there is much. I enjoy pvp as much as the next guy but I am really big on PvE.
GW2 offers an amazing world environment to explore. You don't need other people to level but it's more fun if you team up with some occasionally. You can do something constructive in 20mins. Dungeons are fun, albeit a bit of a shock to the system if you've been soloing a lot. FFXI players struggle less with this than some coming from other games (can't speak about WoW) because we're used to playing more co-operatively.

Roles are weird. There is no taunting/voking as such. There are classes which can gear/spec in a certain direction but there's a whole heap of flexibility. What I love is combos. These weird for me having not met anything like this before. It kinda reminds me of the aims of skill chains and magic bursting. Combos consist of laying down fields with certain weapon skills/spells and other people making use of them with other weapon skills/spells. This results in some funky stuff happening. For example, a fire field down could interact with your group's individual actions differently. Might give AoE might to everyone, or burning bolts or fire shield. I love this aspect of the game and good groups make use of effective combos. It is possible (not always desirable) to spec to healing, dd/dps, support etc on any class but some do have better tools than others to do so.

I don't enormously enjoy the single player PvP, it's not my thing. I loved it in Star Wars but not in GW2. It exists and I've tried it but it doesn't do much for me. Tournament play is more fun, especially with friends. The best thing though in terms of PvP is World v World. It's something even a diehard PvE-er can enjoy as there is so much you can do in it.

Dungeons are fun. They have two modes, story and explorer. They start at level 30.

Crafting I'm a bit 'meh' on but it's there and it's a useful way to supplement levelling. I have done some and am getting into it more. It's not in the same league as XI thank god (I was 100 cloth) and you earn decent xp from it.

Gearing yourself is straightforward until later on. In fact it's light relief. It's cheap to do so and you pick up decent gear on the way up but the best stuff usually comes from the Auction House as you level or from karma points.

I actually like the story but it really kicks off from level 50. There's a lot of build up to it to ease you into the game and you get a sense of impending doom but at 50 things kick up a gear.

Travel is easy (<3), exploration and graphics are wonderful. Not sure what happens at 80 as I've just hit 70 on my first character and 60 on a second. I have a Guardian and an Elementalist. I've specc'd my guardian for support and old school stand there and take it. But she doesn't tank.

Dynamic world events are also great and people being able to and in fact encouraged to help each other on the fly means you often encounter people in the middle of nowhere. For me, the underwater zones were an immediate win too.

There are lots of hidden things, puzzles, silly achievements. It will keep you busy for a while. You don't have to pay for a monthly sub and whilst you might want to fork out for the odd thing, you don't need to spend real money on the game to be effective.

What are the best servers to move an EU alliance (maybe 200+ people) to on the US side of things?, currently getting kerb stomped at US/Oceanic prime by US/O guilds and there's a very real possibility the alliance will want to move to a US server and pick up the slack during US offpeak.

Anywhere but Ehmry Bay, sadly. Just go to some winning server until they lock server transfers, because everyone just rolls to whatever server of the 3 is winning for that week.

well as an alliance we want to be able to make an impact on a server, we don't mind working hard during our schedule but we need an equally focused effort for when we're not there too, which is the problem on our current server. we get rolled over by night crews that take everything uncontested and the server has seen a massive impact on wvw attendance for the past 2 weeks now because of it. Anet has clearly stated that they're not going to change the scoring system so we might as well do what everyone else is doing and play on one of the big 4 or move to a US server.

Was on last night around 3 AM PST. We actually had 2 zergs around 20ish people each running around doing stuff. Of course it's a weekend and it was the first time I've been to WvW in a week or so.

Is there a way to check what places I'm missing points at? Other than 2 borderlands in WvW I'm nearly 100% on the map, but I'm still missing a few things it looks like.

Unless you went Whispers you're likely missing Chantry of Secrets on Stormbluff Isle (Bloodtide Coast). It's a seperate zone with a single PoI. No real way to check individual zones without going to them though as far as I know.
