Picture dump from this weekend, i really should take more screens while I play..

    Spoiler: show

costume for something that came from a mystic chest. no idea what it is but it looks so cool and can't wait to see more creatures like it.

saw a few arenanet people with us this weekend in WvW. here's 2 of them!

and this fellow was the only one escorting this dolyak when I came across it.

The dark room in the Eternal Battleground jumping puzzle dungeon. There are torches at the start if you aren't oblivious like we were.

My solution to being oblivious to everything. Worked out well until we reached a part where torches were required for more than just sight.

Crystal Desert is just an insane server to against in WvW. That tower was the only thing we were able to seriously hold at all on Saturday when we got mismatched against them.

I'm really bad at taking screenshots. Only nabbed two that I actually like.

    Spoiler: show

My friend, myself and a dev after completing the Eternal Battlegrounds dungeon/puzzle

My character, testing out some dyes.

Were they special torches or could you off hand a torch and see?

There were special torches near the entrance to the puzzle.

Didn't know Ferginomicon was with Anet. Saw him trying to help us organize in WvW chat saturday afternoon.

This is why I believe people saying the dungeons are too hard are overreacting. why do they expect what in gw2 is gonna be end game stuff to be a push over.

I think anyone complaining about difficulty doesn't really want difficult encounters. Now... don't get me wrong, the dungeon did not feel tuned correctly as you can clearly see in the video above, a lot of the monsters take absolutely forever to kill.

I will admit that my group never even considered the CC thing on the spider boss, but we did find another way to deal with the adds easily. I'm not sure what they're doing on Kholer that's stopping the insta-cast pull in move, and it sounds like they aren't really sure either. The tip to interrupt it is a no-brainer, but considering it's an instant-cast, well... It looks like they stopped it on accident most of the time!

I also noticed they have a much more support-based group comp. compared to what I had, which makes me jealous. Running 2x Thief, 1x Ranger, 1x Warrior and 1x Necro meant we had very little in the way of actual support, which made the dungeon a lot harder. The 3rd and final fights felt a lot better than the first two, though. By the end of the weekend my group and I had the 2nd path down to about 3 hours for a full-clear, which isn't too awful. I firmly believe monster health needs tuning still, but the difficulty isn't all that absurd.

I think one of the things that is being overlooked is that the reward factor during the run is really bad. 3 hrs for around 50 tokens with shitty drops inbetween is pretty terrible, if after every boss or even trash mobs some nice rare gear dropped then I think people wouldnt be so unhappy.

Also I think many players have not come to terms with adjusting builds, via weapon usage, skills and traits, to become a bit more versatile. Any profession can be support based, it all depends on what skills and weapons are used and how they are used, the problem is at level 30ish people are now getting the hang of it. For example Thieves have access to less control skills but alot more shut down and movement skills. This can easily balance out what is needed to take on kholer, Warrior Necro and Ranger have some of the most amazing support abilities, so I really do not think party make up has anything to do with it honestly.

Whats funny is that in the very first closed beta people complained that encounters were too easy and that there was no need to be smart about CC and shutdown skills, and you can just spam your way to victory. Now anet changed it, and people complain about that. WTF

I agree completely on reward factor needing to be increased, and I'm sure ANet will increase the dungeon rewards to actually feel rewarding outside of, "That was fun!" because encounters stop being fun after you've done them 10+ times, lol.

I do agree with players still adjusting around level 30. I think part of our problem was our warrior is still pretty new to MMOs in general and would rather stick to 2 weapons and not constantly adjusting his build to fit the situation. I disagree with Thief being able to support well, mainly because all we can is cause Blindness - which is still really good, but kinda pales in comparison to the versatility of a well-played Ele. Thieves do have a good number of movement-based control options, though, which can make up for some things. The 3rd encounter on the 2nd path is where my group started to shine, and it felt absolutely amazing. Over the course of some time we adjusted our build accordingly, added more CC stuff and came out on top pretty easily.

I think we have the pendulum effect right now as ANet tries to find a happy-ish medium for the difficulty.

I guess it all depends on how you view support, Thief supports by control since they get much more than others, maybe except for guardian but its done differently, when it comes to direct support as in shielding, healing, buffing, not so much. But if you can effectively shut down a mob its just as effective as buffing / supporting in my opinion.

Thief has cripples, immobilizes, dazes, knockdowns, blinds. I think steal and stealth skills are not used enough they are very strong. Plus the fact that you do not have cooldowns on weapon skills, makes it pretty strong in my opinion if used wisely.

Do not get me wrong I think thief does need some help, but its just tougher to play as its so position reliant.

Thief is pretty limited pre-40 due to the tier system now. Not only did we lose cripple on crits, which now requires 30 points, but we also lost 3 initiative which unlocks at level 40 now. 3 abilities and we're out of initiative.

All i can say after completing explorable mode is bring melee rangers. They tank everything, have loads of HP, and rarely die. Endurance and toughness are your friends.

It's really only a few skills that makes them OP but yeah. Their HP regen is ridiculous with that elite.

Was running duo as a ranger with a friend as elementalist. For most shit I played as a bard pretty much, switching to longbow now and then while he tore shit up with his daggers. For harder shit we'd swap and he'd go healy mode with staff and I'd tank as while it seemed elementalist could tank shitloads of normals with support, he got face rolled so bad vs elites/veterans/whatever they're called, while I didn't.

Again praying to what ever above that ANet just ignore the people having a fucking bitch fit because the difficulty isn't personalized to their own specific taste. The reason why every single MMO out right now is just no fun is because the producers are listening to mass, creating easier content and just making their product fucking boring.

Seriously people that ask for an easy game need to be shot, stop ruining other peoples fun because you're a fucking idiot. Slightly off topic lol.

Challenging content is all that is left after the leveling process, they need to remember that. If there isn't any then how can they expect their title to do well? But I have every faith in ANet seeing as they are doing a pretty fucking amazing job so far. I just hope they manage to find a middle ground!

Heyyyy, holy crap, a Mesmer that knows what he's doing! ...Which means he uses the same skills I do, of course, because that's what that means, right?

    No, what that means is:

    · 1) he knows what his skills do
    · 2) he combines them effectively
    · 3) he dodges effectively (and not unnecessarily)
    · 4) he weapon swaps, using every skill available to him while others are on cooldown
    · 5) he is concurrently absorbing or preventing damage ('tanking'), dealing damage, and supporting his allies

This is why I come to you, BG. I want to play with players who know what they're doing, and I realize that, in 2012, that doesn't mean all of you. It still means most of you, fortunately...

Chaos armor most likely, staff skill

If you mean the blue guardian skill its sanctuary.

Form a protective shelter that prevents foes and projectiles from entering, and heals allies.
