Marijuana Legalization/Decriminalization Efforts

I'm on board with the government legalizing this as well as prostitution. I know we have a few federally funded medical marijuana grow operations in our province.

Is there a way to get a read on a person being high or not like the breathalizer does?

Not really, that's just about the only problem with legalized weed.

If the rest of the nation follows with CO/WA's threshold of 5 nanograms per milliliter, many medical marijuana patients will be driving illegally all the time anyway.

I'm not sure if that's a serious question or a sarcastic one.

Personally, my impression of crack and cocaine are that they are more addictive than marijuana. On top of that, I believe they are more of a stimulant in comparison to marijuana so violent reactions are more common...? I have no data to back that up, I'm just going off what I believe to be true.

That being the case, I'd say no. I have not tried any of these things so I have no personal experiences to back any of that up. Marijuana has always been something, to me, that you smoke a bit of, have some giggles and stuff you face.

Nah, was serious. I think it should be controlled like alcohol (no sales to minors, subject to regulatory control, etc) but otherwise available freely. I think it is a worthwhile thought just for the relief it would give to the legal system backlog and the penal system overflows we deal with.

Realistically we should legalize and tax marijuana as its less harmful and addictive than other recreational drugs(tobacco & alcohol). Decriminalize the more addictive drugs. Start treating drug addiction as a health problem instead of a criminal one. Decriminalization for harder addictive drugs removes harsh penalties for users but still retains felony penalties for manufacture/distribution.

Cocaine should not be legalized in any way. In fact if not for its medical uses it should be a Schedule 1 drug. Cocaine gives off a dangerous and addictive body high that should never be compared to a marijuana high (depressant/relaxed high). It's a hyper stimulant high that comes and goes very quickly, though in that moment you will feel like you can do just about anything.

Its addictive due to the fact that the body builds up resistance to the agent with successive hits over time, requiring the person to want/need to take more to achieve the same high.

Not on the same level as weed.

You are aware that there are strains of weed that give you an extremely energetic active high right?
