Just needs to make it through the Texas House. It was the House Committee that approved of the bill, so there's a very good chance of it passing the lower House chambers without incident.

Phrasing in the WA bill changes possession by a minor from mindemeanor / potential 90 days to felony / five years "to deter minors from using an adult drug".

Yep. He started spiraling down the path of crazy terrible cop and was called out on it. He then left when nobody would support his brand.

On a much better note, Oregon weed sales go live October 1st. The OLCC has incomplete, preliminary rules in place to govern the sales, taxation, and use of the drug. They put it all together in less than 5 months. I am impressed.

This is true. I live right down the road from the state's largest card grower and DEA has been hounding them for any excuse to burn it down especially since all the card holders live in Cali. It's mostly a lot of pot stirring because our county doesn't have any cartel rings to break and trying to crack down on almost literally every other household that grows around here is a huge waste.

For my crop I'm predicting 30 lbs from my 12 lovely 8' Jaeger christmas trees.

The MED (Marijuana Enforcement Division) in CO wastes a lot of resources similarly. It's costly to maintain all the additional regulations; it counters many of the gains of legalization. Yeah, tax revenue is great, but cracking down on kitchens and pulling licenses isn't helping patients or consumers.

At least the DEA hasn't burned a field of industrial hemp yet, but I don't doubt they will one of these days.

My wife's good friend is a DEA agent, and I talked to him last week about possible decriminalization in the southwest state he's in. He said it would have basically zero effect on his job, that they currently only consider making arrests for marijuana if the amount is more than 100 pounds, otherwise they just confiscate it if they happen across it while pursuing other drugs. Only exceptions are when they find major grows (usually out in national forests) which are almost exclusively cartel-related and operated by 100% mexican nationals - and they only really care about that because they harass or sometimes kill hikers who stumble across their grows.
