Multiplayer is garbage, maps consist of people just stomping everything as the demon or hitting you round corners with the super shotgun's bullshit spread.

Campaign is very well done but my one concern is that finding secrets seems to be really difficult. i found 1 secret in the first area and another in the second unless more of the area opens up later in the game.

You have to work a fair bit to get all the secrets. Didn't realize I was at the end of map1 when it ended lol, didn't get to turn back but did that for map2. Ran into this secret after dieing a couple times to a tough jump (if you don't catch the ledge, you just death-fall):

Classic doom room, the helmets don't pick up or anything though. Was behind a door that made the classic opening noise from doom1.

Loads of fun fast ripping, tearing, and sploding.

There's one of those rooms in every level of the campaign.

I'm glad the campaign is getting so much love. Will get when it's on a big sale. Too much in the backlog to justify right now. I still need to beat Wolfenstein!

I see that one is coming, but Bethesda is dragging on it. Nothing from the soundtrack on his Soundcloud, but it would be a good one to watch.

Without having watched the video but having witnessed my twitter feed explode talking about it, I immediately assume this is meta-level clickbait from Polygon to get people to talk about and/or click on their content. It's the logical next step after trolly reviews (the Bayonetta 2 one comes to mind, where they said the game is great and then dock points for the character design).

It could be, but it's a 30min upload of someone playing somewhat poorly, as if they've never played an fps with a controller, or first time with a controller (feels like the person playing is actually stopping to look at the controller, uses one stick at a time for aiming, stands there, etc, doesn't really get much better). I laughed pretty hard at it when I first saw it, then vids and reactions started exploding and stuff obviously goes out of hand. No doubt they're getting lots of angry views/clicks, but what else is new of low hanging fruit like this?

I just think back to the iJustine Portal videos and I'm jaded enough at this point to assume all idiocy on the internet that generate clicks revenue is calculated to get attention. Polygon's either staffed by idiots who put someone who didn't know what a video game was in charge of creating their first gameplay video post-embargo lift, or they did it on purpose to make clickbait. They're either stupid or assholes, and it's hard for me to get over that.

    I feel old.

I look at it as a prime example of the sad state of video game journalism. You would assume that people paid to write about a topic would at least at least be moderately competent in the field. I mean, say what you want about Trent Dilfer, but at least he actually played QB in the NFL before sitting behind a desk making an ass of himself talking about it.

That said, this is a website that dinged Bayonetta 2 because the character was too sexualized, and also lowered the score on Last of Us because combat was too hard. Also, they just put out an article a few days ago that the buttons on the front of the PS4 are too confusing.

Can't find it, but someone on Reddit did a pic of (I think) IGN's reviews of Doom and CoD: Ghosts with the former being reviewed as boring, repetitive, etc and the ladder being innovative, refreshing, etc. I can see younger people still buying into sites and stores like Polygon, Gamestop, etc but for grown adults they should be able to differentiate bias and marketing versus genuine reviews and what not. Unfortunately this does not happen.

I hope anyone on BG that has Doom keeps posting about it's progress and if multi-player improves at all. I haven't listened to or watched anything since the release but am glad ya'll are saying the soundtrack kicks ass. I had Final Doom for PS1 and when I found out if you put the disc into a cd player it would play the soundtrack I would play it all the time.

I haven't and don't really plan to touch the multiplayer at all. I'm hoping Snapmaps brings in some interesting stuff to play, but a few run thrus of the campaign at varying difficulty feels like enough to get my money's worth.

Though I guess this game did end up costing me about $1100 since the soundtrack made me go buy an 8 string guitar.

Finished the campaign and have to say it felt classic Doom to me which was great.

Hoping there will be more campaign DLC because...
    Spoiler: show
I really want to kill that son of a bitch.

And even though Doom isn't really a game you play for story I am hoping there is more to it.

The only way multiplayer could be improved is if they took the multiplayer component, threw it out, and essentially built up a 90s era shooter multiplayer arena game.

You have a combination of double jump, ledge grabbing, standard and upper tier wepaons and yet i'm forced to have loadouts and OP as shit demonic powerups?

Anyway its fun. I enjoy the boss fights but I've just gotten through the second one and got to the frozen part of Mars (The change in color palette is very welcomed after being in hell and desert mars for so long).

DOOM is good. The single player is worth the same $60 that Wolfenstein was.

Honestly, I'm excited to see what happens when they tackle on Quake again with the current streak they're on.

Edit: Also I hear Snapmap forces you to stick to the two gun loadout of the Multiplayer.

Really enjoying it so far, but trying to go through it slowly until the new GPU's come out, as a 270X really doesn't cut it.

I do think the campaign gets a bit repetitive in places (Kind of in the same way as H4), that said, I'm not playing the game in the way its meant to be played I don't think. But that's about the only criticism I have of the campaign, apart from the story being a bit lacking.

I really hope it gets some Campaign DLC/Expansion

Atm all DLC is multiplayer only, at least according to the season pass description.
