Decided to log out because I wasn't getting credit for my girlfriend's department of utilities to see if relogging would fix it and was met with this. All I can say is lol and I'll take this as a sign as it's time to sleep.

PS: Sorry Lucavi and other people who are still having difficulty getting the game unlocked. Origin is a garbage ass service, but I think we all already knew that.

More like 9.99$ with how Jewish EA is.

I'm convinced that if PC gaming ever dies, THIS kind of shit will be largely responsible.

Want so bad but not enough money in the bank (Getting paid thursday!)

Still not sure if I want to pirate this first or not. I really don't like Origin. Well, guess we'll see if it's cracked between now and thursday. <.< I'll probably eventually buy it for the multiplayer.

Shared it on facebook and got a few friends to click it but I am still at 9. Calling bullshit but doesn't seem to be anything malicious attached not sure what they are trying to achieve. Scanning PC now just incase, thanks Arkanna.

Edit: Nothing found with PC scan. It's fake but otherwise harmless, fucking internet trolls playing with my feels!

Might be a dumb question, but does it allow for multiple installs with a single purchase? For example, desktop and laptop? I know Blizzard lets you do this, but not sure if Origin does...thanks.

Wouldn't say that's a dumb question at all. I haven't actually tried it, but I'm pretty sure you can load SimCity on any machine you can sign into Origin from. (with only a single purchase)

If people truly wanted this to stop, those servers would have been a ghost town as everyone would have made the smart decision and not bought it.

In other words, as much as I'd like to rip EA a new asshole, its not their fault ... its the gaming community ... every one of us ... whether we bought D3 (totally wish I hadn't) or Anno 2070 or SimCity .. or everything online DRM related.

I mean ... didn't EA announce last week that their permanant model going forward is that every game will now be online with microtransactions? We let this happen.

It's 50/50. We're responsible for them getting away with it, but they also set the rules as they're the only source of a specific game. Really, it's extortion. If we want the game, we have to put up with whatever they say.

In an ideal world, developers could license their game to multiple publishers. Get some real competition going. As it is, EA runs a monopoly on SimCity, Mass Effect, and various other games we want. I know Maxis is a subsidiary of EA, but imagine if EA AND, say, Blizzard put out SimCity. I'm sure one would nix always-on to get sales.

But that's the problem. Its not extortion ... just because you or I want the game doesn't mean we have to buy it. Right now EA is making all the right decisions a purely methodical profit centric business can make .. there's demand (you want it) ... and so they keep the game quality right where you won't flat out not buy it. Their goal is to ride that line so close you can't tell which side you're on. The only solution is if we as a community move that line.

And a monopoly? Give me a break ... we don't have some intrinsic right to own SimCity(or Mass Effect or whatever) ... its a single game in a sea of thousands. Even if you limit the pool to city builders, you have at least 5. If you don't want this DRM you simply don't buy it and you then live with no Sim City. If you want the game, you don't have to do what they say (well maybe for this specific version you do). You (i.e. we) either force them to change or go bankrupt. Then either they change or something/someone else comes in and fills the hole. So yeah, you may not end up with SimCity(2013) ... but ideally we' end up with "Other Non-DRM filled Citybuilder 20XX".

TLDR: People who say: "If we want the game, we have to put up with whatever they say", are why we are where we are.

Edit: Also for full disclosure, I'm not acting like I'm not part of the problem as well. I bought D3 ... and I'm still trying to resist the temptation to buy SC2013. But, nonetheless, I'm not deluding myself into thinking that I'm not 100% responsible for where we are.

Except we really want the game, because we have played its original incarnations and there is nothing else like it on the market (or at least as good). If the hoops were genuinely as bad as we think they are, we wouldn't put up with it. But we do, because the product is worth it. When it no longer becomes worth it, people will automatically stop supporting it.

Want a good example? When was the last time you bought a sports game? It's been almost a decade for me because the gameplay is so terribad for me that it's not worth the hassle to play something I used to genuinely like. The crap wasn't worth it any more, and so I stopped supporting it.
