It's not that they see the game as perfect or that mods are detrimental per say. Modding enables users to extend the lifespan of a game on their own terms indefinitely, which in the eyes of a company like EA equates to lost DLC sales. Basically its "how can we sell them the Eiffel Tower if they can just make their own", etc, etc. Basically, things like DLC, no mods, and online DRM are all part of this big developer movement to changes the state of gaming from "here's a fun product, buy it and enjoy!" into "you will have fun when and where we tell you, and you will shovel us money periodically if you want to remain happy!".

Only content that has been released within the past 1-2 years has been Sims 3 content. Everything else has gone exclusively Origin. Last major EA release on Steam was DS2, I believe.

Modders have pretty much ripped this game wide open already, I'm pretty sure I read there is already a terramorphing tool, along with mods that allow you to build outside of the artificial city lines.

Check the linked Reddit thread one or two pages back. The teramorphing tool isn't usable tho, as you need a real dev client for it.

Simply commenting out line# 22 defeats the force disconnect.

So if the game detects you are offline it starts a 20 minute countdown, if you are not online before then it will force you to quit.

Removing this line allows indefinite offline play.

LOL jesus. EA is completely fucking retarded. It just keeps getting better and better, the worst part of all this? EA stock has gone UP since the release of sim city. Why? Because they announced "all our games will include microtransactions from now ."

So many lies by EA/maxis, so much bullshit. Redesign the entire game in order to make it offline only huh? Yeah..you edit 1 line of code, so difficult.

Does anyone know how to fix the issue with debris from old buildings sometimes staying behind, which makes it impossible to ever build on that particular spot ever again? Roads can be built through it, but trying to place any object on top of it cancels the action and nothing happens.
