You guys are comparing apples to oranges here. Video games are a different beast and shouldn't be considered along with any other form of media imo. We just need strategies that make sense for games, not necessarily anything else.

You know what I sort of miss? Getting PSM magazine and having it come with a disc with a bunch of game demos.
I had so many of them. Wish I had kept them all.
Buying a product shouldn't be mandatory...wut?
http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploa...-Any-Sense.gifIt's bullshit that people are expected to not record a program under the pretense they will do something illegal with it. That would be just like refusing to allow people to buy guns because they might kill someone with them or refusing to allow people to eat hamburgers because they might get fat.
The act of copying is the illegal part.
Hey look, one of my major fucking points why DRM is retarded:You shouldn't be punishing people who support your work with tiresome garbage
Copyright law is a lot more nuanced about how copies can or cannot be made. The RIAA/MPAA/BSA have tried for a long time to convince the world that 'don't copy that floppy' is an absolute law but that really isn't the case. I'm not going to jail for ripping my CDs to mp3 and putting them on my iPod.
Is there a finite amount if oil that you can pump out of the ground in your city? Even if it's possibly a very large finite amount?
I'm sure they'll have a neat $20 DLC for infini-oil soon Hank, worry not.
I'm not upset. You, however, took my words way out of context. When I said purchases should not be mandatory I meant you should not be forced to buy something that is distributed for free. You are not legally allowed to record a show or radio broadcast, for example, because you do not own the rights.
This law really only makes sense when you realize that its existence is predicated on the selling of copies to consumers. They make zero profit of you record it yourself. Putting encoding algorithms and other "protections" serves no legitimate purpose because they are consistently and easily bypassed.
Now as it pertains to games, you should not have to suffer the wrath of angry developers who claim they're fighting for you when really they're just trying to control distribution. It's not about intellectual property. They thought that could get away with putting out crappy product and they were wrong. Now they want the people who aren't responsible to pay for something that they will inevitably get while frustrating the people who actually determine their profit margin.
kuro...you said EXACTLY what I was saying in my first post that got your vagina in a twist.
I don't know how many ways I needed to say "don't throw your customers under the bus" for you to understand that.
Only point I was making is they have to word it that way to get what they want. Do you honestly think you are smarter than every game dev, and that none of them understand that they can't calculate lost sales realistically? My point was they have to defend it that way or they won't get what they want.
Whole lotta "Everybody needs to shut the fuck up in here".
So is this safe to buy yet?
If you try to make any money off your "art" you are a terrible person.
p. much
I just don't get how I make a general statement about why I think companies say what they do = I am supporting EA and all their shitty decisions.
You guys married yet?
