I never actually played either of the BG games. I'm kinda tempted as I've heard so many great things over the years, but I have yet to enjoy a single game Bioware has made. Is this like, the one exception where they actually have an interesting plot/characters?

They are both fun games with a slew of side quests, companion quests, etc. I really enjoyed them both.

I look at BGII every time I see it in GameStop, but the $35 price tag for a PS2 game always stopped me. Depending on what system this comes out on, maybe I'll give the Enhanced Edition a go.

While those too were great games, this is about the PC series which is more RPG style than the console versions.

Baldurs Gate II is the best RPG ever made for my money, plotline is dope and the characters are grand. Irenicus is a magnifique villain, your companions go from the exceptionally silly like Minsc, Jan, and Edwin, to the troubled but honestly portrayed Yoshimo and Keldorn, to well-written tales of change and redemption in Saverok and Viconia. they also start to murder one another if you keep two who contrast overly much in your party for an extended period of time.

I think he's referring more to her inability to get along with any of the evil characters. I've noticed that she's a very love/hate character for most people though. Peapole either sympathise with her or get incredibly annoyed by her. That said, Cleric/mage multi-class is pretty broken in that game if you know what you're doing, so she has that going for her at least.

All of the evil characters seem to be better than the good guys. I guess the devs wanted to balance out the alignment "penalty" by giving them nice classes, stats and/or special gear. Viconia is the best cleric in the game, imho. Edwin gets quite a few extra spell slots from his amulet as well as from his mage college specialization. His chosen college is one of the better ones too with the least amount of drawbacks. Korgan and Sarevok are melee beasts.

I liked the evil characters just because of their comments tbh. I remember loling at some of the stuff Edwin would say.

The dialogue is definitely the main draw to the evil characters. Bringing Korgan along during an Aerie romance is comedy gold so long as you avoid getting forced to choose between them. As far as game mechanics are concerned though they're probably weaker than their good/neutral counterparts but thats more a matter of how much you can abuse the system. Game is pretty easy to steamroll regardless.

Loved BG1/2 and Icewind Dale 2 and I'm thinking about playing Planescape soon. I have a few questions though. Figured this would be the best place to ask since numerous people interested in this have played Planescape. What's different about it compared to BG/IW?

Saw some new information today, but it's on a Polish site so I'm not gonna link:
They will release 2 games, not 1: BG1+exp and BG2+exp. They're both getting new content, graphics will still be 2d but enhances, also improved UI, new va, games based on 2nd D&D rules, also they want it to be mod-friendly. We should see first screenshot next week.
