I'm obviously not talking about the past where the standards were much lower than they are now. Everyone goes to university these days. Wouldn't someone aspiring to be a politician need to stand above others? I would've thought law school would be like a minimum requirement.

There are no minimum requirements, except for age for POTUS.

I'd be more worried about BG coming back to haunt you Zealot. lol

These are the anti-Israel forums afterall and we know that if you even speak ill of Israel in today's politics that you might as well cut your own throat on stage.

Same. You just know some slick asshole is going to hire someone to dig through ALL your posts until he finds something he can spin.

Find some of Elvis' posts, link them to you and boom it's time to disown BG and answer allegations of being anti-Semitic.

The thing is, and I want you to consider this seriously, don't you think people have tried that already?

The desire for change is not something new. If anything, it's something that had far more traction 30 or 40 years ago than it does now. Where are all those like-minded people who believed in the future and tried to change the system, inside and out? With a congress that damn near unanimously passed a bill like this, where are the idealists? The movers? The shakers? What happened to them?

Don't make the mistake of thinking you're somehow better, more motivated, more driven, or more skilled than any of those who came before you. They all failed for a reason, and you'd be foolish to go in without figuring out what it was and how you can combat it - the latter being the real test.

    And what's your solution?

People like me say things like this because it seems like the cart is coming before the horse. These are the questions that need to be answered first and foremost.

I wasn't criticizing btw. I just genuinely wanted to know how far ahead of the game someone needs to be to get into politics.

Chances are likely he can try this route and fail, but if some people don't try what can we do? It's becoming obvious that unless alot of people are going to risk going to jail we can't really protest anymore to send a message. The system isn't gonna change itself, the people who are benefiting from it aren't suddenly gonna do "Ok guys let's stop being dicks now". Cory Booker is pretty real and even if he's just 1 politician among hundreds and thousands, he just kinda proves that if some people try enough they can get somewhere that matters and have a say in things. If he wants to try that's his business and right. If he succeeds and gets lucky enough to get elected somewhere where he can make a different and prove his point, good for him. If not, at least he tried.

I've said before, I like what I've seen of him so far, but I want to see a detailed platform before I sign on.
And a workable plan to get a hundred million or so people's votes while under what's going to be very hostile entrenched fire, but everybody's trying to crack that one, so can't ride him too hard on that just yet.

See, from what I've seen from some of the posts in this thread is that there's too much pessimism and complacency in America. Either you believe no good will come of action, or you simply don't care enough to take it.

Neither of those attitudes ever accomplishes anything, so unless you get your ass up and act of course shit won't change. People are too plugged into their games and gadgets (just like Carlin said) to really care about politics, and the media controls what you know, so no one is really the wiser.

It needs to change or the country really is going to go down the non-existent tubes.
