Darkstalkers 4?

Rumor for now, but this also showed up today:

Darkstalkers 4 has been in development since last year with Street Fighter producer, Yoshinori Ono, supervising the project, a report at Venture Beat claims. The game, according to Venture Beat, uses a modified version of the Street Fighter X Tekken engine, which itself is based on the Street Fighter IV engine.

The information comes to Venture Beat via the same source that leaked details about Resident Evil 6 to them earlier this year, indicating that the rumour might indeed be accurate.

Recently, Capcom filed a new trademark for Darkstalkers after Ono teased at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con that “Darkstalkers aren’t dead”. Perhaps we’ll hear further word of Darkstalkers 4 at Capcom’s “Captivate” event in April or E3 2012 in June.

[Correction]

Yeah no. Capcom just doesn't have the animation chops in them anymore to pull off the former glory that was Darkstalkers 3. The Darkstalkers cameos in the newest 3D games are a shadow of their former selves
