Recipe Revisions and Additions (03/04/2012)

* The following changes are scheduled for the 1.21 patch release.
* Features are under development and subject to change or postponement.

• Patch 1.21 will usher in reforms to food, medicine, and accessories. Based on these changes, we will be introducing new recipes and revising existing ones.

Review the concept behind the food and medicine reform.

Things I've noticed:

Black Pearl Bracelets/Earrings/Choker/Ring - There better be new ways to get Black Pearls.
Potion of Vitality - Why are there three recipes for this when all other stat potionss only have one?
Mega-Potion/Mega-Ether/Elixer - Here's to hoping they don't disappoint.
Apkallu Omlette - Finally a way to use them Black Truffle and Apkallu Eggs. In the same recipe, too!
Scrambled Eggs - Requires a White Truffle. We don't have White Truffle in the game, do we?
River Sand/Sea Sand - Finally I don't have to use as many Wind Shards. But couldn't they have changed it to something like Water instead of Fire? orz

On first glance the CUL recipes don't look simplified much at all, although there's no easy way on that chart to compare the new/old.

Puk Eggs eh? Is that a new item? Yep probably is. I see other things I've never seen before, like "Tinolqa Mistletoe".

Ugh, I was hoping that giant list of "items not used in new recipes" provided before patch 1.19 applied to these recipes as well, but the Ahriman/Puk Wings and other such things say that I was wrong... sigh.

There are still recipes that have 7 ingredients!

I thought SE said back when they did the first reform that no recipes will have more than 4 in an attempt to simplify things.. maybe an actual number was never given but ugh...

They don't need to make a new recipe for black pearls since they're revamping the HQ system, I guess. Black Pearls used to be an HQ2 result. Now everything is HQ1 only. So that increased the availability for Black Pearls. Now after the new HQ system takes place that allows crafters to control and gauge their HQs, we'll have even more.

Also, Black Pearls are supposed to be better than normal Pearls. They should be rarer then, otherwise what's the point of normal Pearls? Black Pearls are for the wealthy. Normal Pearls are for everyone else.

The problem then becomes how does one obtain HQ Black Pearls to make HQ Black Pearl accessories?

Well, I guess there is always the option to make it with NQ Pearls, but that's going to make the HQ Black Pearl accessories very, very rare. And expensive. I guess that's one way to make crafting necessary.

The "sea sand" recipes that yield black pearls are both listed under revised, perhaps one will be lower level and yield NQ black pearls on an HQ result and the other will be higher level and yield +1s.

Or they may have just completely forgotten and we'll find out that the new HQ results for these recipes stayed the HQ1 result and black pearls will disappear entirely before they oshitfixit.

That would amuse me.

I'm actually not bothered by the 7 item ingredients. They are simplifying lower level recipes to have less ingredients. The more ingredients (they said) the higher the level, and potency of the food. Also crafting leves will now award you with the ingredients if you successfully complete.

I thought it was that they were introducing simple foods with simple (4 or less) recipes, and maybe complex recipe for complex food? Unless I've misread/misheard somewhere.

They did say they were going to simplify food recipes since a majority of them took 6~8 ingredients each, which made leveling CUL to 50 a massive pain in the ass compared to most other crafts who had access to multiple single-item recipes at almost any level. Perhaps these new and/or Sea/River Sand recipes from new fish might be there for that reason.

Where there are multiple recipes in the same category and level range, they will be differentiated as follows, and ingredients will be trimmed from some recipes.
Food items that require many ingredients but have powerful effects.
Food items that require few ingredients but have weaker effects.

I guess it didn't mention level, but fewer ingredients = weaker food, many ingredients = more potent foods
