Can't imagine it being THAT bad as I could not give less of a fuck about the storylines in 2 and 3. Back to being cautiously optimistic.

Wait what this isnt the last one?
they said from the beginning it is part 1 of a new trilogy
As someone who's read every halo novel and comic, I personally love the story. 4 looks to be continuing to give me more of what I enjoy, fair warning tho, if you haven't read the Greh Bear books or The Thursday War, there's quite a fair bit of backstory that you're going to miss
Fuck reading, just give me the spoiler'd tl;dr version.
Thought this would be the place to ask. What do I get for pre ordering? And are they different versions of the game like in the past and why should I pay them.
Limited edition is 100 dollars, includes random bonus shit, movie version of Forward Unto Dawn, and 3 Map Packs (when they come out). Different stores have different armor customization options, if you want specifics then google or something.
From what I know there is a Legendary Pack, and it comes with some sweet bonuses for multiplayer like the first map pack free or something. And if you preorder the regular game you get a bonus armor camo's based on the store or company you preorder with.
The Didact (Antagonist of Halo 4) is one of the protagonists of the Greg Bear books. They explain the first contacts with the flood, humans and what the flood are.
Thursday War tells us why there are Covenant still fighting humanity (its a splinter faction led by Jul M'dama, formally a human prisoner on Onyx, a human controlled shield world similar to Requiem)
Cole Protocol, Grasslands, and Thursday War iirc
Edit: Cole takes place before Halo, thought you meant release for a sec.
Forward unto Dawn takes place in 2529. Halo 4 in 2556.
Glasslands and Thursday war are between 3 and 4
Should be pointed out that, like Qal said, the legendary package is game+3 map packs, so it is likely to cost as much money as the buying them separately, plus you get a few other minor things and don't have to break out the CC or run down to the store to get more MS points every time a map pack comes out, if that's how you do things.
Hmm so pretty much just money up front for map packs before they come out.
Just saw the pre order bonus for gamestop, kinda annoyed that you actually get an armor that gives you an edge (albeit slight) just for pre ordering with them. Camoflauge skin that actually makes it hard to see you? Ughhhh
Just got done watching that Multiplayer video, really not sure I like how they're going down the COD route with the exp > spec and ordinance systems. One of the things I really liked most about Halo multiplayer was how it wasn't dependent on gear or rank, if you were better than someone you already had the edge. Perks and shit really annoy me, especially since you unlock more as you rank up.
For the record I haven't played since Halo 2, not sure how much of this change is from 3/Reach, just my general impression. =/
