I really dislike Prom vision. After a while, you're going to know where someone is based on radar solely. I'm referring to height and people really only being able to be in so many locations based on radar marker's distance. Same goes with the light shield. The damage mitigation is nice, but you can't fire and you're really only stalling and potentially giving the enemy time for backup to show up. I think it's really going to be about misdirection with the decoy. And I don't mean visually with the hologram, but with the radar blips. Invisibility is nice in that regard, but it's still pretty obvious where the person is.

But perhaps it all gives credit to it being a fairly balanced game, allowing for customization based on play style. I prefer speed and evasion, so I go unlimited sprint and decoy.

I haven't come across the Thrusters yet but I have to agree that, of the abilities I've found so far, Light Shield is my favorite. I've been able to use it more as a tactical parry for very little energy. I grabbed the Sentry but decided against keeping it since LS is so useful to me.

So, this is my understanding of the storyline:

>Humans rise, expand into Forerunner territory.
>Forerunners attack Humans, defeat Humans, realize Humans were fleeing from the Flood.
>Forerunners realize they can't beat Flood, but the Humans were able to.
>Didact hated Humans because they were the young up-and-comers and didn't want to pass the Mantle to them. Wanted to instead convert all Forerunners to data/machines to make themselves immune to the Flood. This only creates abominations, so they lock up the only supporter if it, Didact.
>Forerunners catalogue various races, including humans, fire the Halos, and leave the controls for Humans to be able to use, under the assumption that they would be the first race to approach the Forerunner level of technological advancement.
>Time passes, Humans rise again, Flood happens again, Didact is released and wants to enact his plan again.

I'm assuming some Forerunners must exist somewhere, otherwise why wouldn't they just catalogue themselves as well? Couldn't they have set the monitors to replant the seeds of their civilization after Halo was fired like they did for Humanity and the various other races? I assume they would be able to rise again and re-carry the Mantle.

And why did they refer to Humanity as the Reclaimers? Shouldn't they just be the Claimers? Is it implying we're the Precursors? As far as I know, Humans never "possessed the Mantle" instead of the Forerunners during their time. I know that Guilty Spark (or maybe it was Penitent Tangent) referred to Humanity as the children of his makers, but I assumed this was more in the sense of empires rising and falling to make way for the next. If Humanity had ever possessed the Mantle, I'd assume they'd be revered as rivals rather than children.

2. Until MLG rules are set, Prom vision is beyond great.

3. The Shield is for when you win 1-on-1's, and you use it to save your ass while YOU'RE back arrives when a 2nd enemy lurks. You don't use it mid-fight unless you are sure to lose, which in 2-on-2 DMR/BR fights, IMMENSELY helps turn the tide.

They've already had an event, AA's were Thrusters, Jetpack and Hologram. Thrusters are amazing if you use them right, and shield is usually a free kill.

From everything we've heard (on the stream as well lol), the AA's were a test sample and MLG was going to be mapped out from there. I agree that I think Prom vision won't make it, and I don't use it myself. We still don't know for sure, lol.

during one of the epilogs I'm sure they mention the humans actually took the mantle didact then told his wife about the halo rings (he was pissed over losing the mantle he could only think about winning which sadly meant total molecular destruction which the humans couldn't survive...) did anyone else think Didact looked like a predator?

I love sentry turret in the campaign, but in multiplayer it sucks balls. Thing dies in like 3 shots from a DMR... meaning it dies almost immediately. None of the other armor abilities strike me as interesting, either, for many of the reasons Hank mentioned above. Jetpack seems like the only one with any real use, although it often just turns you into a giant target.

Anyone else feel like by the time Thruster Pack goes through the animation of moving you around, you could have just walked there?

Edit: Also, the Mantis is cool, but I'd rather have a wraith... which I have yet to see at all in matchmaking. I hate how sluggish the new banshee is, too. The evasive maneuvers are fucking pointless.

Fixed. I absolutely can't stand Complex, its so bad. Far too big for 4v4 imo

It's not really to help you move faster, but as a twitch avoidance tool. Rocket coming your way? Thrust. Enemy threw grenade at you? Thrust. Shields low and can't get to cover? Thrust. Ect

No one good shoots rockets straight at someone; good luck thrusting away from a rocket lol. Grenades suck. You're still dead post-thrust if shields are low and you are losing a BR/DMR battle.

Done it many times, you can thrust out of splash range from a foot shot with a quick thruster. Grenades are actually really good, and again you can thruster to get out of splash. Not if you use it right and thrust behind cover/around a corner, in which case thrust is far faster than running since you slow down when being hit now. If you're in the open, yeah thrusters won't do much for you.

also, the thruster has no net gain in speed... if you have time to use them to dodge anything, you have time to just strafe sideways.
