What in the fuck? Did those episodes not air on tv or something? I've seen the first season like 20 times and have never seen those scenes. Fuck, I have the DVDs and have never seen that lol. I'm gonna have to go back and check tomorrow or something.

Never saw those either. No freaking clue. Hell, I just watched all of DBZ like 6 months back and still have no memory of that at all.

It's highly possible the Launch scenes were omitted as no one would know who she was, in the early days of DBZ anyways.
Likewise, the drinking scene in the bar might've been a bit too not children friendly (alcohol and smoking for example are usually omitted; remember Roshi holding a mug of orange juice/water? haha).

Yeah the version that we saw in the 90s/00s here in the states was heavily localized by FUNimation and Saban in their Vancouver studio. They butchered it for mandated "content" and length, censoring a lot of material. The first 67 episodes became 53.

Ever notice how all the voices sort of "changed" around the middle of the Ginyu Force fight? That marks the end of the original 1995 dub. They aired it on Cartoon Network beginning in 1998, and it quickly gained popularity. Soon, demand for the localization of the remaining episodes was high, so FUNimation started over from scratch. They re-dubbed the whole series with a new cast and very few edits/censoring in their Texas studio. Those are the episodes in the links I provided. They added in all of the continuity and flashbacks referecing Dragonball. May be where your confusion lies.

I remember the first dubbed version. I missed it when the new ones came out. I watched up to the Ginyu fight like 5 fucking times.

I dunno if this was posted yet, but seeing as it's on YT it probably has or no one cares (I'm guessing the latter lol).

With their resources and talent, I'm sad that this was the product. Could very well be that my sense of humor doesn't fit with this type of parody. If anything they could've brought back "dub if the north star" since it was cancelled with only 4 episodes. so much could be done with that.

Still remember being so hyped back in 6th grade when the Funimation dub first hit Toonami. Saban did the 3rd and 4th seasons of Sailor Moon pretty much right after that.

"THE CAPTAINS COMING TO GET YOOUUUOOUUUUU" is the bestest version.

I loved the original dub too. I remember Vegeta's original dub voice when he yells "Galick Gunnnn FIYAAAAHH" being pretty epic. I mean the FUNI guys aren't bad, but that stuff was just too good.

Ocean dub is my jam. Ginyu Force was so much more hype in that version.

Yeh the Ocean dub was particularly good at taking the drama out of some fights. Here's a vid I uploaded a while ago showing my friend how the JP dub made this scene a "dramatic" fight, the Funi dub was just "meh" and then the Ocean dub with its rocking drumbeats in the background:

    Is rather perfect.

Note: it's censored slightly, the small punch up they have toward the end is shortened

Interestingly, that episode was the first one I saw on the International Channel, without any dub/subtitles, so I had a way to watch a big chunk before dubbed episodes came out.

Also, I remember the episodes, with Launch in them, so they were shown at least at some point in their dub life, in the US.

Wow, took them a long time to get it on YouTube. Thought people just weren't talking about it all week cuz they didn't care.

    If anyone's interested:

    DBZ Abridged 51 posted
    DBCember concluded
    FF7 Abridged X posted

They're working on World's Strongest Abridged when they hit 2M subscribers, which is imminent, which means they're probably already done with it.
Also their ticker for the progress of the next episode still sits at 99%, so draw your own conclusions.

    Happy Xmas.

Not as funny as my hype would have liked. Still no sign of HA (ha!) but as BWY said, drawn conclusions like a 3 year old on a Wendy's Kids Menu.

Wait why are they working on World's Strongest Abridged? They done it already and it was decent already.

It's also not the "pre TeamFourStar" release, it was a decent release with all current voices. I understand they needed to redo The Dead Zone because they done a poor version of it pre forming the group. Unless someone determined it to be of a subpar quality (which I don't think so personally) I can't think of another reason why they are redoing it. Would prefer they move along and do Broly lol.
