    4G Droid Recommendations AT&T Provider

So after my second IPhone 4 in 9 months and now out of warranty, I'm going to re-up my contract and switch to a droid. I'm not interested in rooting or anything crazy with it. Just needs to be comfortable to hold, reliable, and can play games like solitaire and angry birds without shitting the bed. My brother has the new Razr and while it looks nice, it is huge like xbox and probably wouldn't care for something that size. What does BG recommend and is there anything awesome coming out in may/june that I may want to wait for?

Um, the Razr is 4.3'', which is small for smartphones currently.

There's the Samsung Galaxy S2 which is the same size.

There are some new phones coming out in May and June that may suit you better. HTC has some nice ones coming out, and there are rumors of the Samsung Galaxy S2 HD LTE coming out as well.

I would wait, but the size issue won't go away; you'll be staring at a 4.3'' phone, some 4.5''.

Ehh let me rephrase it felt big as in thick. It reminded me of my old iphone 3g when I had that thing in an otter box

I may be wrong... but Razr is advertised as the thinnest 4G smartphone. If it is too thick then perhaps you may want to stick with an iPhone. Or are you trolling? lol
edit:: Did your friend have it in a big case or something? Razr is 7.1mm thick and the 4s is 9.3mm. Either way if the thickness is the thing bothering you give it another chance

Might not be the Razr my brother got then and I could be completely wrong And no I have no intention of sticking with the IPhone. Besides ITunes being a shitfest of a music organizer for synching, The fact i've had two IPhone 4's crap out in less then 9 months and told so sorry but 150 to fix for 3 month warranty, I really want to get away from the evil empire.

Well, if you're buying now, look into the Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket.

That's their best 4G phone for now.

Does it have to be AT&T? As you've said you're going to re-up your contract, have you considered switching? I've always considered AT&T to be awful, I've used them in the past, and they constantly lose customer satisfaction surveys.

Yea I have unlimited data with them, very minimal service issues and a pretty good government rate. To leave them id also have to hold out till September due to my wife's line.

Good site if you want to narrow down your options.

HTC should be releasing the One Series phones by summer, which are supposed to be pretty amazing with android 4.0.

I believe the HTC One X will be going to AT&T. Read up on that, its where I would go if I was going to upgrade this summer.

HTC scares me with their battery usage. When the head of HTC himself in their last earnings report said that HTC has done a poor job with battery consumption and it will take time to fix it, that worries me. I got the Galaxy Skyrocket now, and it's a good phone. Screen is far better than I thought it would be, seeing as the DPI was a downgrade from my iPhone 4.

If you can wait though, the Galaxy Skyrocket HD has passed through the FCC so should be coming to AT&T in a couple of months, maybe less. Could very well be worth the wait.

According to alot of the tech blogs though the One X was the phone that stole the show at Mobile World Congress. From what I understand that 4.0 is substantial better than Gingerbread on power efficiency side.

They changed up sense too, which should help battery life

Thanks for all the info. The One X looks pretty slick. Will be keeping my eye out on that one.

As a side note, I have had 3 HTC phones. The battery life sucked on all three of them, but once the custom roms were out I got ~2x the battery life and a much lighter ROM with increased speed. Plus HTC phones are always pretty sexy IMO.
