Yeah I basically picked mixed race, and voted for the stealthy and "brand new" classes. Hopefully they do a bit of adjustment to DoL/DoH to make it easier to level up. I started hating everything about the game once I started leveling weaver. I picked more battle content and additions to the Main Scenario, couldn't hurt to have more story.
Hopefully the retards on the official forums don't skew the results too much in a retarded direction. They followed the last poll pretty closely with player opinions didn't they?
Same here did Main Scenario + Battle content like Primal Battles and stuff. I'd like to see more Grand Company related stuff too.
That's good to know. Need to fill that out when I get time. ASP.NET can suck it.
I chose wolfman race! The job choices were a bit limited but I picked stealth type, I think a Ninja would look boss in this game w/the graphics.
This poll makes me feel confident they know what they're doing at this point. Just glad there isn't dumb shit in here about colors of the UI or whatever like in the past. Patch 1.21 was really good and the future is looking bright for ffxiv.
That said, I voted for RDM & Musketeer since we need more ranged and mage classes. More clans of existing races would be nice too but I'm sure that we'll end up with Viera since half my server is Mithra and the other half are Tarus...
Is the race option for playable characters? For some reason I got the feeling that they'll just introduce an extra NPC race to interact with, like Qiqirn in FFXI. Would be nice for an extra race to play though, all the current ones are pretty boring to be honest, just the same thing in different sizes.
My pick was for a THF/NIN class to be added. I don't see the demand for extra casters at this point, it'd just be another BLM with different looking animations. A stealthy class would hopefully introduce a whole new mechanic of play, a bit of variety from the horribly vanilla combat classes they have now.
I choose Pet Job as well. Pet jobs usually add a unique way to play the game. Love, love, love, love all pet jobs BST, PUP, and SMN. Come on SE!
Fuck pet jobs until they prove they can get our characters functioning right first.
I was going to say the same thing Celeras.
With the current engine and how badly the server registers our own character movements, as much as I love pet classes I would hate to see one before they fix the problems with the damn player characters first.
Meh. different/funner class mechanics > some algorithm adjustments.
We need a new healer class, we don't necessarily need a pet class. They might be able to make a healing class out of a pet class, but I agree that they need to optimize the engine and the server framework before they make anything drastically different from what we have now. I expect they'll make something out of all the abilities they cut from Thaumaturge before 1.20.
I was going to come to the defense of the current class system, the combo system and the status effects I can lay down as PUG are pretty potent, but I took a step back and realized it was all just about par with Arms WAR, only slower. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm enjoying myself and I'm not just doing a rotation, but it's important to remember that it isn't 2.0 yet.
I'm hoping we'll get additional healer jobs added for classes like Thaumaturge and Arcanist (if that turns out to be the next mage class we get, could be pretty cool to have a healer focussed on positional heals using the staff thing as was implied for Arcanist). They could lock the base class out of any healing capacity if they wanted to prevent the other job getting access to it, or making the basic classes too similar.
I could see DNC being added to the thief type class at some point if they wanted to keep it as a front line healer, although for the love of god give it another mechanic outside of TP. In fact, give a whole bunch of classes/jobs independant mechanics outside of MP and TP, then they'd be unique.
Similarly, I think they should add fully tanking jobs to Lancer (No idea), Marauder (No clue, something that specialises in 2h swords?) and Pugilist (Boxer?) as alternative avenues of specialisation. If they give each class distinctive alternate roles that could be filled in parties using the same basic class then the whole 'bring the player' thing could work much more easily, and the whole job system might start making some real sense.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but MRD already has a fully specialized tanking job; it's WAR and it's awesome at it.
