I want to know if there is any way they can make dyes permanent? I don't like the fact that I go dye my armor and it lasts for 24hrs. Should stay the color I dye it until either A) I put it on the Broker (assuming non-soulbound item) or B) change the color again myself.

I cant' recall exactly, but I think the event dyes were permanent and had a much larger range of colors to create. Those are much rarer, and were BoP, but I do think they lasted until you re-skinned or changed it. Foxy/Frisky/Cian could probably verify.

    As for a question:

In my years of playing MMO games, there are two main aspects of a characters growth: Power and Aesthetics. Most games only focus on the power of your character, and until recently, power was the only way a character could really experience TERA content. With the latest expansion, you've added aesthetic growth, in the forms of obtaining different mounts and various hats. What other aesthetic growth content do you have planned, as this is an important carrot, which keeps players playing, in between the long waits of content patches.

Every other MMO has done this. They start out with a great system and then let the crybabies that should have rolled on a PvE server slowly grind them down with their incessant whining on the Forums. Slowly but surely, more and more restrictions and penalties work their way into the game. That, coupled with being able to queue up for every instance from a major city, eventually makes World PvP become non-existant.

Just once, I'd like to see a game that sticks to: "If you don't like World PvP, please transfer to a PvE server."

I guess one way to phrase it is:
What measures are you taking to ensure World PvP stays viable after most everyone is fully leveled and done competing for quest spots?

I don't really want to hear some bullshit answer about GvG, because that won't happen either unless there's a reason for the Guilds to be out and about.
ganking =/= world pvp. ganking is pretty much all the pvp you get to experience until you hit level cap, at least during the betas. i got two friends to join for this last CBT. they quit because they were unable to get outside lumbertown for the quests to the north as a full party of level 32's had camped on the bridge and were butchering everything that came by, along with another roving party camping quest mobs.

my question would be the converse of Soho's question: what are you going to do to stop douchebags from ruining the world pvp? it'd be nice to have actually experienced the outlaw system, fully implemented, so we can decide what manner of server we're going to stick to.

Q: Concerns have been raised about the low difficulty of some encounters as gear quality progresses. Are there plans to address this individualy as a "westernization" change? If not, is any change considered at all?

(Notice the previous question may simply have no place once end game content is revealed for us)

Q: Current PvP in TERA seems to work from a gameplay perspective, however the whole pvp experience isn't as complete as the pve experience the game provides. What are the future plans on development for pvp oriented gameplay?

    Wrong. On so many levels.

All you needed to do to avoid a party of high levels on a bridge is switch channels. Duh?!

If this is something that made you or your friends quit, you definitely belong on a PvE server. People like you are the problem with PvP servers. You have absolutely zero business being there. You're the care bears that QQ on the forums about ganking and get restrictions put in place. Restrictions are what discourage World PvP.

People who are truly there for the World PvP experience know that ganking is just part of it. We remember their names and we get revenge. We don't go cry on the forums that we got our feelings hurt.

If you want to be guaranteed fair or consensual PvP, please go play on a PvE server. You can get your fill of that there.

changing channels prevents you from being ganked again, after you've already been ganked. if there aren't more gankers in the other channels (guess what? there are!). going out for a simple quest cycle becomes a giant frustrating pain in the ass. i've honestly got better things to do.

i'm not sure where acting like a douchebag and (repeatedly) stomping all over lower level players and generally making the experience of just leveling a painful, retarded exercise in going to quest area, dying, changing channels, going back out, dying, wash/rinse/repeat is supposed to be any part of anything other than acting like a complete douchebag. open world gang rape is not pvp (or at least, it's not good pvp), and that's pretty much what we have right now.

whole idea they're pushing is that there's going to be a system to balance this crap. they haven't implemented it. hard to make a decision on where i want to end up when the system's not in place.

So now you're saying that being ganked even once is too much for you? Let me save you some trouble... I'm telling you now, you don't belong on a PvP server.

Enmasse gave you a way around being repeatedly ganked. You can switch channels. If you're too stubborn or too stupid to use this simple fix... Why should anyone feel sorry for you?

There was plenty of good PvP this last weekend. And guess what? It often started by some low levels getting stomped. Then they called out their Guild-mates and full scale wars happened.

    Please let this sink in:
What you're asking for is consensual PvP. If you want consensual PvP, re-roll on a PvE server. That's how it works there.

where did i say getting ganked once is too much? if it was something that happened only occasionally, it wouldn't be a problem.

if the devs wanted the mass-slaughter of low level players to be part of the game, there wouldn't be an outlaw system and i wouldn't be bothering with a pvp server and we wouldn't be having this conversation. i know what comes with open-season slaughter fests and i've got no interest in participating. this isn't what they're trying to sell their pvp servers as.

There has to be an Outlaw system in order to flag, genius. There are no factions.

    Are you really this thick?

    Say it with me now:
If I want only consensual PvP, I should re-roll on a PvE server.

sorry, to clarify: the penalties in place for casually fucking up lower level people's gameplay when they have zero chance to fight back or escape. that they haven't actually put into place yet.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree.

Any type of penalties on PvP will discourage World PvP. Period.

In my mind, anything that discourages World PvP is bad. Period.

It's already bad enough that at end-game, they allow queuing from major cities for most events... Meaning less of a reason to be out and about in the world.

I can understand that being killed as a lowbie is not fun. I don't have a problem with it because, as I said, it promotes larger scale battles when Guild Members get called out.

Even if it starts as what you would refer to as "Bad PvP", it often ends up resulting in some of the funnest PvP sessions I've ever had.

If you want to play on a PvP server, you need to grow a thicker skin.

If you only want consensual, "fair" PvP, you need to PvP on a PvE server instead. It really is that simple.

Thanks for putting this together Sono. What kind of interview do you have lined up; are you coming up the EnMasse headquarters (like you did for XIV) or something else? If you're coming up here to Seattle and need backup I'd love to join you in the interview.

    --Questions--

Q: How far are you/have you been willing to go to "Westernize" TERA? What does that even mean? What do you think the NA/EU audience wants out of an MMO and how do you think TERA will meet those needs and expectations?

Q: Many people are excited about TERA because it bucks the current trends of recent MMOs (Rift, SWTOR, etc) to stay close to the "tried and true" standard of WoW. These games have declined shortly after release because they weren't bold or confident enough to establish something new or different. We know that the combat in TERA is awesome. We love it! However some of your recent announcements have displayed a lack of confidence in some of the more "Korean" elements in TERA; are you ready to deal with consequences of too much change/removal leaving players with the same bad taste in their mouth from their experiences with the aforementioned MMOs?

Q: I think it's safe to say that a large portion of MMO players are willing to try something new as long as it's fun (subjective) and intuitive. With this said, there are systems from Korean games that a lot of players might be apprehensive about because of bad experiences (or even just hearing about them) in games from that market that ended up doing poorly in NA/EU not because of those specific systems but other more deeply rooted issues with said games (repetitive, boring grind w/ meaningless PvP, overly punishing itemization/progression, etc).

Do you think completely removing features established in Korea is better than keeping but adjusting those features/systems? (e.g. player shops, boxes of mischief, etc)

Q: When changes have been announced, it's hard to get the full picture because supplementary information isn't included. Can you provide a clearer reasoning behind your decisions in the future so that the players aren't left to worry?

(I probably have more questions but it's late and maybe I'll post them soon)

    --General feedback--

    Spoiler: show
    UI:
    • It's nice that the interface scheme is saved between characters however some elements (namely the large stamina gauge & cooldown icons) revert back to default even after being adjusted.

    • Since the interface "profile" is shared, can we get global keybinding also? I switched to ESDF years ago and although I adjust things for every modern game that defaults w/ WASD controls, it would be nice to have the keybinding shared across characters as this benefits everyone regardless of their preferred control scheme.

    • We need the ability to bind modifier+mouse buttons (shift+MB5, etc). I was surprised to find we couldn't.

    Mechanics/Gameplay:

    • An auto-dismount when using an action (combat skill or interacting w/ a gathering node) would be appreciated.

    • An attack towards crosshair option for keyboard+mouse would also be appreciated.

    Audio:
    • The NA voice acting leaves much to be desired. I'm sorry to those who put effort into the voice work but quite often it's jarring and lackluster. Can we have a volume slider for NPC voices?

    Character Aesthetics:
    • Can we get the color palette expanded for hair color and skin tone? We don't need a dozen slightly different hues of blonde hair or pale skin. Vibrant and exotic colors where appropriate would be fantastic! (Such as red hair variants for humans and high elves, darker more 'ethnic' tones for elves and elin, etc)

    • It's a far stretch at this point to hope for unique hair/horn/tail options for many races before launch but it has been widely requested. Hopefully this is something that can be worked on and integrated in the future?

I like the auto dismount when using an action suggestion!

I also agree that attack towards crosshair for keyboard and mouse should be an easy to configure option... But for a band-aid in the meanwhile, you can manually change that by editing the Config file in any text editor. I'm not on my home machine at the moment, but I think it's called S1Options.ini or something similar.

It's just a True/False setting that you can toggle.

I have to agree with the suggestion of aesthetics, whereas the characters have really nice modeling, color itself seems a bit lacking, things can look as nice as they want, but color and some accessories is how the player makes themselves different from everyone else. More colors would be great. Due to the way the dats are set up in packages, im not sure if its possible to separates some accessories but would like to see something done with this as well.
