Character Creation
Character Creation
Anyone in the beta for this?
I just got my invite for this weekend's test.
I did. Letting my friend check it out though. She's more crazy for it than I am.
In as well. Lets see how it is!
I has a beta, w00t !
I got a beta invite, but going away for the weekend lol. damnit.
Also got a beta invite as did some others in my community. If you guys wanna organize a beta group for this weekend my TS is available for chatting and general frivolity. If interested shoot me a pm with the name you'd use on it so I can approve access on friday.
Everyone I know got their beta invite... except me. It must be cause I'm brown.
I got the game installed and it starts up and all i got sound but no video is this a video card issue? I have a amd radeon 7480d.
I'd be surprised if that GPU was better than modern integrated graphics (in fact I'm willing to say with 99.99% confidence that it's significantly worse). It falls extremely short of this game's projected minimum requirements.
Edit: nvm, it is integrated. I don't know shit about AMD CPUs, so I had no idea. Yeah, you won't be running any modern games with that. You'll need to upgrade to a dedicated GPU.
Even though it's integrated, it's modern (7k series is last gen, and that one isn't super horrible), so it should at least display the game. You have to make a character before you can even modify the game settings though, which is stupid. You might need to upgrade vid drivers, or game is being shit on you (it's shit).
I'm in beta. Took 4 tries to make a character before the game stopped giving me "unknown" errors lol. Sure, I set my sights around morrowind/oblivion style look with skyrim simplified eq/etc, and it was near that. Game runs and looks decently on my laptop on some low/normal settings. Some things are just awkward in playing, like all the looted containers everywhere that might become unlooted only to contain nothing anyway... Combat isn't too bad while playing templar with 1h+shield, but that's just in the first few lvls (being pretty generous with this so far). I'll have to try out the other races/jobs, though you can use any weapon/armor, just the abilities you can put points into change depending on job (4 jobs so far).
I can't see myself subscribing if it continues this way, not that I have time for it anyway. Still neat to participate for a short while.
I had gotten into the beta but had missed/deleted the original email apparently.
Thankfully they just sent me another email reminding me, so got it downloading now.
wow. downloading patch at a whole 900kb/s. I'll be able to try this game out in about a week!
well, I can't get past the initial loading screen after logging in. It always freezes at the 3/4 mark. Unless it just takes a really really really really long time to get past the single point.
Souj, my game loaded, and it did take a veryyyyy long time. I can time it again today. And my computer is plenty good to run the game so it can't be that. The game took all day to download, it's 27GB total. Funny, they put watermarks of your email address you signed up with all over the screen as a disincentive to post screenshots of the beta, lol.
I have only played up to the part where you get out of the underworld or whatever. First impressions are okay, I don't hate it, it isn't awful. But neither is it worth a monthly sub fee. I like that it's simple and more or less just like Skyrim. The combat is boring but that's only basing it off of playing a little bit with 1 whole skill to use.
I had the same issue with the not loading after selecting my character, it would just get stuck about 3/4th of the way, I just logged and figured it was just issues due to the beta just starting a few mins prior. So I tried again around 4am est and got on almost instantly, so I would think it was due to everyone trying to load into the same starting area?
It's okay. Not sure how much detail I can give due to NDA. I wouldn't pay a monthly fee for it though.
Apparently you aren't guaranteed an invite back so there isn't exactly incentive to not break the NDA lol.
Personally, I'd rather just fire up Skyrim than play ESO. ESO is basically a lesser version of Skyrim with other people running around that you need to pay a monthly fee for. Not exactly a compelling argument to buy it lol
Watched my friend play it, since I was out of town for the weekend. It looked ok, like if it was F2P I might consider playing it for the story, but i'm not going to buy it AND pay a sub for it from what I saw. Quests were very boring, animations were kinda meh, textures were pretty nice, jumping animation looked really bad. Combat looked somewhat intriguing, but since I wasn't playing myself I cant really say. Someone told me it was a mix of Skyrim and TERA. Character creation looks better then default skyrim, but 100x worse then modded skyrim with ECE/Race Menu
TLDR: Elder Scrolls game w/o mods = no thanks. Might be good for those who have only played Skyrim and only on Xbox/PS3. But any PC playerbase is probably going to shy away from it.
Was not impressed at all by ESO. Granted it was Beta, but as the comments above, to me it's just Skyrim online without mods and with other people and paying a monthly fee. No thanks.
