I didn't find the storyline compelling at all. That was half my issue! I've completed my feedback survey but I think my biggest gripe was how clunky the whole UI is.

Yeah the UI is a bit off. One of my very first thoughts as I started to play was "wow, this feels like it was designed for a controller".
UI is super simple compared to other MMOs. They just shoved everything into the inventory screen and kept as much as possible out of your face while playing. I can appreciate that; the game has a lot to see (mining, wood, plant life, coffers, and glyphs to all take). Having 5 hot keys is annoying when you get more skills to use though.
Crafting was cool, as I mentioned earlier. Can make your own foods, glyphs, and stylize your armor and weapons, along with improving them with the same naming scheme that skyrim had (fine, superior, legendary, etc). Though it was pretty simply done, like a lv1 sword would need something like 4 iron ingots, lv4 needed 5, lv6 needed 6, etc. Same with armor. I spent a lot of time crafting, barely made it to lv6 and off the first island area in this beta while last beta I had two lv5 characters off first island (just wanted to see the different faction starts).
Yeah the crafting was fun, though I didn't get too far into it. It's very simple at the start which is nice, but I hope it becomes much more complex later. Having items that are purely for the vanity portion of items is also a major plus, since you can custom tailor an item to your personal preferences.
Has there been any talk of any kind of AH or player driven economy, or are you supposed to be mostly self sufficient as far as that goes? Like I know you can trade and all that good stuff and as such sell things, but I'm wondering how big of a role that will play in the game.
Edit: Wow I totally forgot, but the fact that you can craft with items that are stored in your bank is fucking all kinds of epic.
And this is why I will never play it. It might be petty of me, but I play with a keyboard and mouse for a reason. I cannot stand games that have both a PC and console version that only works well on a controller. I've avoided many games simply because of this. Devs need to give both keyboard+mouse support on top of controller support if their titles will be ported to both systems. I don't think that's asking for much. If a game has a hotbar, always make it fully customizable. Number of hotbars, number of buttons on the hotbars, hotbar placement, and a robust keyboard mapping system for the hotbars. This has been an MMO standard for decades. There's no reason to not have this in any MMO because it works.
People saying the UI feels like it's made for a controller, go turn off SkyUI in Skyrim and fire the game back up (assuming it doesn't break 50 million addons), every elder scrolls game since Morrowind has been like that.
Eh, it feels more fps than mmo, and fps can be played with either. Since you're forced into only a few hotkeys (so far anyway), there's not much to manage, so no combo keypress advantage. In fact, the inventory screen has most of the basic SkyUI in it, but of course not configurable. Lists of your items (with types) on one side, equips on the other, big selection bar at the top to swap between different screens. There's barely any comparison with skyrim's default UI.
Group gameplay & voice cast announced
Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax Media company, today announced the members of the renowned cast lending their voices to The Elder Scrolls Online, the highly-anticipated game arriving April 4, 2014 on PC and Mac and June 2014 for the PlayStation 4 system and Xbox One. The Elder Scrolls Online ensemble includes Academy Award nominee John Cleese ("A Fish Called Wanda," "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"), Golden Globe winner Bill Nighy ("Pirates of the Caribbean"), Kate Beckinsale ("The Aviator," "Pearl Harbor"), Alfred Molina ("Spider-Man 2") and Golden Globe nominees Michael Gambon ("Harry Potter"), and Malcolm McDowell ("A Clockwork Orange"). In addition, Lynda Carter (“Wonder Woman”) returns to the Elder Scrolls series to reprise her role from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
The Elder Scrolls Online is the latest chapter of the award-winning franchise and will bring the legendary experience online for the first time. Players can choose their own style of play as they embark upon an epic adventure across all of Tamriel, playing alone on heroic quests as in previous Elder Scrolls games, exploring the huge, rich world with a few friends, or joining with hundreds of others in massive PvP battles to save the Empire.
"This extraordinary group of actors helps bring the distinctive characters in The Elder Scrolls Online to life," said Matt Firor, game director of The Elder Scrolls Online. "In The Elder Scrolls tradition, we sought world class talent to add a deep and enriching component to the immersive world the series offers players."
John Cleese plays Cadwell, the cheerful and endearingly mad lost soul who is not afraid of anyone, even a Daedric Prince. Joining the cast as High King Emeric, Bill Nighy portrays a merchant prince whose luck and determination won him the throne. Kate Beckinsale takes on the role of Queen Ayrenn, the leader of the Aldmeri Dominion and Queen of the High Elves who is far more comfortable with a blade than her crown.
In addition, Alfred Molina takes on the role of Abnur Tharn, a wily old wizard and politician who is the head of the Empire’s Elder Council, and the de facto power behind the Ruby Throne. Lynda Carter plays Azura, the Daedric Princess of Dusk and Dawn from Skyrim who is a popular part of Elder Scrolls lore. Michael Gambon voices The Prophet, a mysterious blind man who guides the player through their journey to retrieve their soul; and Malcolm McDowell plays the key figure Molag Bal, an evil Daedric god from another plane who schemes to enslave the mortal souls of Tamriel.
The Elder Scrolls Online cast also includes:
·
• Peter Stormare (“Fargo”) plays Jorunn the Skald King, an unexpected monarch who led his people into an unlikely alliance.
• Jim Ward ("WALL·E," "Despicable Me 2") voices Mannimarco, a renegade High Elf wizard exiled from the realm for raising the dead and the world’s most powerful necromancer.
• Jennifer Hale appears in the role of Lyris Titanborn, a Nord half-giant, who, along with the Prophet, aids the player on their journey..
• Kevin Michael Richardson rounds out the cast as Sai Sahan a noble martial artist and master swordsman.
The Elder Scrolls Online has been named one of the industry’s most anticipated titles for 2014 and marks a historic point for the franchise with its multiplayer online play after nearly 20 years of developing these best-selling, award-winning fantasy role-playing games for single player only. As the sequel to the 2002 Role-Playing Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Skyrim earned hundreds of ‘Game of the Year’ awards and sold over 20 million copies.
The Elder Scrolls Online is being developed for the PlayStation4 system, Xbox One, PC, and Mac by ZeniMax Online Studios. The studio is headed by industry veteran Matt Firor who has more than 20 years of online game development experience. Watched the group play video and it didn't look bad! Is this f2p/p2w or subscription based(I forget!)? I've barely touched Skyrim, but the idea of playing a mmorpg where I'm not forced to group constantly sounds cool. The fast travel to a player was pretty awesome too.
Thank you for the reply. Easy decision for me now![]()

Almost makes me wanna go Aldmeri Dominion.
Playstation Plus membership is not required for Online playhttp://www.vg247.com/2014/01/28/elde...ership-on-ps4/The Elder Scrolls Online will not require a PlayStation Plus membership to play on PlayStation 4, according to the developers.
Speaking a developer Q&A on the PlayStation Blog, ZeniMax Online also clarified how the servers will work in the upcoming MMO.
As far as a PS Plus membership was concerned, Zenimax had this to say: “A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to play The Elder Scrolls Online. PS4 players will only be required to pay the same monthly subscription associated with The Elder Scrolls Online that PC and Mac users will pay — nothing more.”
PlayStation 4 players in both Europe and North America will also have regional dedicated servers: “PS4 users will play The Elder Scrolls Online on either the European PS4 megaserver or the North American PS4 megaserver.”
This means that PC and Mac users will not be able to play with other on PS4 players, which ZeniMax said was “good news for PS4 players,” as they won’t have to “worry about contending with higher-level PC players when ESO launches on the PlayStation 4.”
The beta for PS4 is currently without a date or timeframe, but one is expected for the console at some point this year.

Well at least multi-platform MMOs with staggered release dates have a good solid base and have proven very strong in the past.
No console limitations except for the people who choose to play on one. Thank god.

Spoiler: show
XBox Gold required for XBone versionhttp://www.joystiq.com/2014/01/28/th...l-require-xbo/The Elder Scrolls Online will not require a PlayStation Plus membership to play on PS4, ZeniMax Online Studios Game Director Matt Firor wrote in a PlayStation Blog update. Bethesda confirmed to Joystiq that the subscription-based MMORPG will require an Xbox Live Gold membership to play on Xbox One, however.
Bethesda was in talks with Microsoft to allow Xbox One owners to play the game online without the Live subscription in August. That was after Firor revealed the developer's decision to go with a monthly subscription for the game instead of moving to a free-to-play format. The Elder Scrolls Online will cost players $14.99 per month when it launches April 4 for PC and Mac with next-gen console versions following in June. The game was recently handed a Mature rating by the ESRB, to which Bethesda said it is "unwilling to change the game's content to achieve a different rating."
can I buy that CE book separately plz Zenimax? ty.
Oh man I can't wait to see the rage over the fact that you need the collectors edition to play as an imperial and the fact they get to be any alliance which is what people have been asking for to begin with with all the other races.
