I just can't get over the character creation design. I mean the armor looks nice, the environments are cool...but the characters are just so fucking rigid and terrible looking. I mean when you increase the female breast slider it just pulls the entire chest out and looks terrible, not to mention the underwear are painted on textures. With armor on it's not too bad, but the faces are still terrible TES quality. I mean there is a reason the first mods out of the gate when a new TES game hits are skin textures/body+face morphs...
I really was not impressed enough to pay a monthly sub
The trend seems to be positive reviews from those into RvR/AvA, or whatever you want to call it, and the opposite from those into PVE.
Seems about right for the target audience they're after, but totally opposite from an ES perspective.
As i get older i care less and less about PVP and more and more about exploration and group dynamics. Both appeared sub-par to me during beta. The 4-man party size can fuck off as far as I'm concerned.
Same Alderaan, I've been waiting, but just seems like another clone with the usual problems. Think I'll give it a miss. Tried Beta for a week, wasn't impressed.
Has it been mentioned that there will be no support for mods and such though? I know in the menus there was a section for addons and the like. I mean obviously it'll be a lot more restrictive then the single player counterparts, but I could still see them allowing things that change how your character looks and such.
And yeah, tit slider is all kinds of bad. It's almost better to go a bit on the small side![]()
Their tit slider makes me want Blade and Soul even more!!
I havn't heard anything on mods yet. I have heard in /vg/ that the Imperials might be unlocked in game via max lvl quest or something, and they are just keeping that hush hush to get more sales. I can't imagine they would allow body morph mods due to pvp hit detection, but they could and just keep your hitbox the same no matter what you did with yourself.
Looks like a meth addict but he's got some good points. Maybe won't cancel my preorder after all
He makes a very good point near the end of the video, one that I've heard and read elsewhere a few times as well. That's that people who start in the Aldmeri Dominion give much higher reviews that those that start in Ebonheart Pact or Daggerfall Covenant.
I haven't played AD myself, but from what I understand of it: AD only has one starter zone which is small, with everything clustered together. EP and DC have two very large ones with everything spread out. It's also apparently the best looking of the three, from those who played them all a bit.
After that video and Angry Joes PVP impressions I'm actually looking forward to playing it. It will more or less be a time killer for Wildstar, but I think I will enjoying playing it for the free month and maybe a month after if I get hooked.
I'd imagine that regardless of how you make things look on your screen, the hitbox would remain the same as it should be the server saying you hit it or not, not your client. Client side hit detection would be all kinds of terribad. I play another game that uses this, and it's very easy to exploit for a colossal advantage.
Didn't TERA do something like that? Vaguely recall Elin lancers being better than everyone else because of hitboxes
They over compensated some elin attacks with a lunge, and ended up giving them a greater range.
Watched one angry joe vid review, never again.
I agree mostly except with his opinion on grouping. In this game it is mainly there for dungeon content. They are supposed to add adventure zones, which will include 20+ players on hard maps that require large grouping. The limited party combat I tried out in the beta I enjoyed quite a bit. I hope they are a bit more challenging on release. We steamrolled all dungeons with little effort and semi competent gaming lol.
Any word on another beta event before launch?
Supposed to be a couple more. One probably going to happen this weekend followed by an open beta or three. I need to try out the PvP, RvR looks great. I liked GW2's but it always felt so much like your individual contribution didn't matter at all. Hopefully it's better in this.
This popped up on Reddit recently, according to people in the long term beta test:
http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrolls...lands_no_more/
- Collision detection with NPCs just got put in.
- You can also now skip the starter islands and go straight to the first city in your area. You can port back to starter islands if you want.
- Mob difficulty increase slightly starting at level 5.
- Buffs and nerfs to class abilities
- Fixed an issue where many abilities were not properly obeying line of sight rules.
And then I found this:
Aside from the things mentioned above:
- Combat actions/animations have been improved.
- The initial leveling experience has been streamlined a bit and made faster.
- Dark Fissures have been added, which are smaller solo versions of anchors.
- Dark Anchors themselves have been made significantly harder.
- Lots of environmental loot has been added. Crates, barrels, items lying around etc.
