Just got my invite for the test this weekend.
Seems they are doing a "bring a friend" thing for this weekend and my email had an extra key in it.

I will personally not be participating this weekend but if anyone wants to check out the game and needs a key just PM me.

Should be. You should get an email sometime about it, along with a friend code. I got one some hours ago (two, but same code in both emails). Also, from that email:

Everyone who takes part in this beta test will get an exclusive monkey vanity pet once the game launches, so if you're on the fence about the game make sure you log in to be eligible for it if you ever do decide to play.

Friend and I haven't did a whole lot in this game yet, but so far it feels like Skyrim with friends. This is EXACTLY what I wanted the game to feel like and it's so satisfying beating the shit out of a polar bear together. We've only put a couple hours into it so I don't know how much that dynamic changes but I went in expecting a shit show and I'm now considering dropping XIV for it if it stays this way.

Been watching streams since I'm too lazy to DL, game seems like it actually coulda done well as buy to play but I cant see this holding many subs. RvR seems cool but combat itself seems pretty dreadful so I can't see too many people getting invested in it. I can see myself picking it up later on down the line either after it goes F2P or just a cheap sale for the free month.

Keep in mind that combat is quite a bit different from what you'll see in most streams, as we're still using an old beta client. Perma testers have a far better version that uses collision detection for npcs and shit as well as various animation changes/enhancements, but ZOS is retarded. Rather than have people test the newer version, they just gave us the old one again, for like the 3rd beta in a row or some shit.

Why they wouldn't want people to play the better, bug free version with tons of fixes or enhancements is beyond me, especially now that literally anyone and everyone can get a beta key. They say "it's a stress test!" but to a lot of people, it looks like they're fixing nothing. To newer people, it's a bug-ridden piece of crap. First impressions are important, and they done fucked up this time around.
