Song was the best part of the video. I'm guessing that's pvp? Seems very very slow.

In TESO if a alliance owns more than 6 keeps in Cyrodiil, the highest rank player of the alliance gets to be crowned Emperor. The Emperor gets massive bonus in both pve and pvp, as you can see in PVP, he is owning everyone.

Alright that kind of makes sense then. An interesting concept, depending on how hard it is to take the keeps (Is it like taking a castle in Aion?...which I had forgotten about till this point but was a ton of fun when it wasn't a clusterfuck)

PvP still seems very slow, they need to speed it up a bit. Not to the crazy CHARGE STUN > HAMSTRING > YOU DED type of pvp that WoW has most of the time, but at least a little more active.

My biggest issue atm is the current system of how even getting emperor works, which is simply whoever has the highest points on the winning side. Now that's not to say the guy at the top shouldn't get it; he should, he obviously earned it and deserves it. But with how it is currently, there's no lockout or anything on it. If you lose emperor, you can work your way back to the top and get it again. And with how pvp is setup, somebody could actually easily do that. We'll probably end up seeing emperor cycle through a few very dedicated people in each alliance. Again, do they deserve it? Yes. But does it fuck everyone else over? Also yes. Especially when you consider that becoming emperor gives you a unique skill line that you retain a lesser version of after you lose emperor.

On the beta forums a while back, they actually posted the leaderboards for the war in Cyrodiil. The top guy overall was something like 25% higher than the guy in 2nd place. It only took less than 20 spots overall for him to be 200% higher than someone, and a few spots after that it was something ridiculous like 1000% higher because of how fast the points started to drop off. Simply put, people are going to get emperor (and stay emperor) simply on virtue of being able to play more than somebody else. Again, that doesn't mean they don't deserve it, but it does mean that only a few people will ever see it, and that, IMO, is fucking shit.

I disagree completely. If you put the time in there should be a reward. This is another casual vs hardcore argument.

You can still reward effort and have a lockout so that a few more people can get emperor.

It was also word choice "laying waste". No cleaving or boom headshot going on here. It is really slow yeah, idk, I was gonna type some stuff but the game and pvp is shit. It probably won't be dropped as fast as star wars, but it's a hard sell as a primary mmo with sub. Everything boils down to do you want to play multi player skyrim with friends until next mmo comes out: y/n?

I agree with Kor based on this statement:

Especially when you consider that becoming emperor gives you a unique skill line that you retain a lesser version of after you lose emperor.
I'm fine with a few crazy hardcore people getting a special title, mount, look or even a few fun skills. But to let them retain some of these seems slightly too much depending on how OP they are, which i'm sure they will be pretty one sided.

With all the faults of Aion, I think it actually did have a good PvP ranking system. You earn your PvP points, can get to the top, but once you spend them your rank will drop if you now have less points than the other person.

This means multiple people could be the Governor throughout the game's life and they also have to work to maintain that title, especially if they want to get PVP gear.

Every player gets a trophy! Lets give every participant emperor tokens to split it so everyone gets a turn too!

Nah, if you and your guild work hard for emperor/castle/dragon mount/ whatever; you should be able to hold it as long as you're working for it and winning.

The retaining skill thing, not so sure on that. I'm a fan of lieutenants or whatever ranks and giving them a skill and pumped up character model.

    Toki nails it.

You completely exaggerate what I said. This isn't saying people should get a last place trophy, just that a lockout could preserve balance a little better.

Yeah definitely not asking for everyone to be able to get emperor, only that more people actually have a chance to get it. The current system allows it to pretty much cycle through a select few people, who are only going to get it back even easier due to the unique skill line that they'll have.

I understand the desire for hardcore content, and I'm fine with things being restrictive in who can obtain them. Hardcore players get things first, that's cool and I like it. They don't however get things and then retain them forever. The casual playerbase eventually gets access to things, even if it takes a while. There's a very big difference between "If you work hard enough you can obtain this" and "No matter how hard you work you will never obtain this".

Imagine if you will, that the very first time Twintania is downed each week that turn 5 is locked out to the rest of the playerbase until the following week. The most hardcore will always get it right away, and then nobody else can have it until next time. Only next time, those same people get it again, and once again it's locked out. Rinse, repeat, etc. That's the current emperor system. Only instead of it being a group effort and everyone being rewarded, it's just one guy.

could just have different tiers/ brackets. keep a single emperor, but add things like chancellors and council members for lower "brackets" that are less powerful than emperors but still provide nice bonuses.

The only thing to add to the Emperor thing is that the group as whole gets bonuses, but the Emperor gets the largest bonus and the abilities.

Or so something I read says.
