I expect every game offer a cash shop now, just with a sliding scale somewhere between convenience and p2w.
this. sparkly mounts, race/gender/face change, server transfers, etc. are basically mainstays ever since WoW started doing it and getting away with it, even for sub based MMOs. that said, I wouldn't expect ESO to remain a sub based MMO for very long. I suspect B2P or F2P to come within the year, which would be great. sub fee is my only major complaint with the game.
Man I don't know, I just can't get past the character creation screen. I mean after modding all other TES games so much, just looking at the generic characters makes me want to punch them through the monitor for the sin of ugliness. Petty as that is, character creation is like #1 to me when playing MMOs nowadays because most won't be holding my attention at end game, so at least I want to look good while leveling!
i just saw this now but yeah, I'm certain there will be texture and model mods for this game. there's already a nexus site for it with UI and immersion mods. http://www.nexusmods.com/elderscrollsonline/mods/top/?
Finally got around to trying this today. Found a few bugs to report, but the games was fairly fun. The combat feels a bit wonky to me... a lot like Neverwinter. I guess its just a timing thing and I'm not used to it, it seems quite different from xiv/gw2/whatever. Doubt I'll be an early adopter though, especially with the sub fee.
2nd week on this game, fucking digging it.
Sorc has me completely hooked, the graphics and being able to play with friends are some of the best parts, not to mention the fast paced combat (which really reminds me of TERA Sorc).
Seriously considering subbing this when it drops just to play Elder Scrolls anew.
Friend linked me these, apparently someone set up their client to look like this with sweetFX

ZOE has opened up the servers free for anyone wanting to join. They are doing this to test the new overflow servers. So if you have that itch to play now is the time to do so.
But I don't know how long the servers will be up though.
yay overflow servers! I don't know why more games don't incorporate them, they're great if you don't want to sit in a queue for sixteen million years.
I don't understand what overflow servers are even aiming to accomplish in this game. Like, there aren't even servers to begin with. Just instances.
probably just means they're adding more servers, I forgot they were doing the whole megaserver thing
After thinking about the game some more (and lack of others) I decided to go ahead and hop on the preorder wagon. Hopefully things really go well for the game.
anyone who ordered the imperial edition from amazon and who has got prime: refresh your shipping to 2day and it will change your delivery date to April 4th
Holy crap at name sniping rage on the official forums, and how names were taken seconds after the servers came up.
The preorder things you get in your mail only come to the first character you create? wtf
Yup, and if you delete that character they're gone forever! But nah not really, just contact customer support and they'll (eventually) get around to fixing things for you.
ZOS really dropped the ball on that shit though. I mean why be like any modern day MMO and mail the items to each character right?
