I don't think the worst part is his lack of remorse for the actual killing.

The worst part was when he said that looking back knowing that his suspicions were wrong, and knowing the kid was going to die, he'd still do the exact same thing with getting out of the car and looking for him.

The reason this is a high-profile case (other than race) is that it demonstrates a legal grey area where most people would agree that this conflict could have been avoided but there's a lot of disagreement as to whether someone should be held accountable for that.

there is no gray area. most civilized places in the world have self defense laws.


could zimmerman had acted differently to avoid it? yes.
did zimmerman break a law in how he acted? no.

he felt threatened for his life, he was armed, he shot the person. end of fucking story. i like how many people mentioned stand your ground in this thread (because the media told them to) when this wasn't even a stand your ground case.

It means do you think that kid deserved to die or care that your actions are responsible, and his response was literally "nope don't care god's will, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat."

Sorry, I work nights so I don't get to see primetime news. I flip on CNN, Fox and New England Cable News during the mornings and I haven't seen anything about any of these other outrageous crimes. I don't want to go to any obscure news websites now it's just too depressing.

O'Mara made a good point about the lack of arrest that shouldn't be overlooked. In Florida there is a speedy trial law so a 6 month ticker starts from the time of arrest. So a lot of times when there is no fear that the individual will flee they hold off on the arrest as long as possible in order to build a case.

They definitely arrested him, he went to jail, paid his bond, then went back to jail when he got caught lying about his money for cheaper bond, then got back out on bigger bond.
