I am pretty sure he can still be found liable for the kids death in civil court. If this allowed with FL law it is pretty much inevitable.

If he gets off criminally he is immune civilly.

776.032 Immunity from criminal prosecution and civil action for justifiable use of force.—
(1) A person who uses force as permitted in s. 776.012, s. 776.013, or s. 776.031 is justified in using such force and is immune from criminal prosecution and civil action for the use of such force, unless the person against whom force was used is a law enforcement officer, as defined in s. 943.10(14), who was acting in the performance of his or her official duties and the officer identified himself or herself in accordance with any applicable law or the person using force knew or reasonably should have known that the person was a law enforcement officer. Unless I am mistaken, I am sure the state will find other things to sue him over. ie. in Anthony's case, she was sued for...$200,000? for the cost of the investigations to find Caylee. And iirc is still in the civil trial process for defamation for using that woman's name as the nanny.

I imagine he can't be sued for the direct actions that took Martin's life, but they'll find something else.

Something like that is a definite possibility, but I'm not too familiar with Civil Law to say for sure. Zimmerman is also suing NBC for defamation (He has a pretty good case too) so he has a chance to break even financially if he manages to get off criminally.

I hate to say it, but I kinda hope he wins that suit. Only because I hate how news stations do that kinda shit and I wish they got theirs.


More than likely the defense knows exactly how this is going to go down. Martin gets off free or small charge, spends the rest of his life in various civil suits. So they are trying to get ahead of the game and get some money in preparation.

The point is, once the state changed their story they pretty much admitted they don't know what happened. That is the definition of reasonable doubt. No matter any personal feelings in this case, by FL the judge should have ended this trial.

If I was the defense I would bring this up in closing arguments. The problem with the prosecution's case this whole time has been they have presented their theories on what mite have happened. Theories aren't evidence. When they started changing their narrative they were just grasping at straws. Like ,"Well let's just try it this way and see if the jury will buy it."

I also don't like how prosecutors use emotion in these circumstantial cases to try to put pressure on jurors. That if they don't say guilty there is no justice. Someone died so you have to place blame. They choose the jury cause they were suppose to not know much about the case, didn't watch a lot of tv or whatever.. but I bet they knew enough to know that most of the country thinks Zimmerman is guilty anyway and wants to see him convicted. Think about it. That's a lot of pressure. They mite even convince themsevles if they don't find him guilty they are doing something wrong. I certainly wouldn't want to be in their place.

Yes, and the only one this had is a pure impact safety. Any kind of accident that actually pulls the trigger = shots fired.

I personally OC my Glock 17 in Condition Butterscotch to prevent those incidents. In the off chance I'm Condition Three I am able to draw and rack the slide against my belt with one hand, because learning how to draw and fire in adverse conditions could be important.
