So I barely followed this but can he be found not guilty if the jury believed that he followed Trayvon and Zimmerman started the fight but when the fight started to go against him he genuinely feared for his life and then he shot him, or for not guilty the jurors believed that he followed Trayvon but it was Trayvon who started the fight? Just basically clarification on it being accepted that he genuinely feared for his life in both scenarios and the difference being who started the fight.

As for the civil suit side. The local news (from Orlando) just stated that Zimmerman can be immune to it if they go to a judge and ask for it under the Stand Your Ground laws (and he OKs it), even though it wasn't used in the criminal case.

I'm glad there is some actual justice in this world; Zman has been through hell and he'll finally be able to live a normal life again. At least he cleaned up the streets a little in the process.

Normal is something I would not call it, always looking behind him for anyone who would want to get revenge. Not sure either if he would have trouble finding a job and such unless he continues to do what he is doing...?

Once you get a innocent verdict, I would imagine that means it was considered justifiable force. I am not a law person by any means, though. Again, I think it's mostly irrelevant because no matter what they were going to find things to sue him over.

I'm not sure of the laws in Florida specifically, but I think the general rule is that a jury finding someone not guilty is not considered proof, or even admissible as evidence, in a civil case. He'll still go for immunity based on self defense, but I'm fairly sure the criminal case has no bearing.

They had to believe it was reasonable to think Trayvon started the fight. If they were certain Zimmerman started it, they would have had to convict.



So, do we have any black parents around that would share their thoughts?

I'm really curious what the fuck they're supposed to tell their kids about this, because the reality is it doesn't matter at all whether trayvon started the fight or not, as long as they couldn't prove he didn't.
