The main outrage of the case actually centers around Zimmerman's initial treatment by the police. Had he not been a white male, he would most likely have been arrested (and potentially convicted by a jury of white 'peers'). Thus the (legitimate) outrage initially in the case.
As for his innocence/motivation/racism during the case, the prosecution did attempt to show some racism/malice simply to show the "depraved mind" aspect of Murder 2. The defense merely pointed towards the "all black crime reports" in the area to attempt to justify Zimmerman's profiling.
HOLY SHIT ITS GOING DOWN, THE NOGS ARE OUT AND THEYRE PISSED:

I took a shower and started watching Toonami..
Didn't even check because I thought the jury had stopped for today..
I'm honestly surprised. I thought they were going to give him manslaughter at least just because they felt like they had to give him something in light of public opinion. Good for them though.
Fake video.
debunked as video taken from hockey riots
Why is there still daylight in Miami in that video when the verdict was announced at like 10pm EST? >.>
Oakland stream down :/
Damn! I didn't want to dig a BBQ pit....
I guess morning will tell what kind of rioting went on tonight.
Unless one of the jurors says something, we won't know. I imagine it comes down to the fact that jurors couldn't decide anything happened definitively. The defense argued that Martin initiated the fight, and the prosecution failed to present definitive evidence that Zimmerman started it. The only things that were known for sure were that Zimmerman started following Martin and that Zimmerman shot Martin. Neither side was able to prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, who started the confrontation, who called for help, and who was on top.
That third tweet by Lupe is the best way to explain this case. Can you reasonably believe that Martin confronted Zimmerman, knocked him over, said he was going to kill Zimmerman (or whatever the defense said he was going to say), etc? If so, then you can't convict him. Yes, there have been times when African-Americans have been screwed by the legal system, but that doesn't mean that having the legal system screw Zimmerman should occur to balance the scale.
Aren't black people being racist when they call Zimmerman white?
What kind of question is that?
