Maybe he was, maybe he wasnt. He looked fucking suspicious. Yeah it's profiling to assume a black guy in a hoodie walking alone in an area that was a lot of crime might look more suspicious then a white guy, but that's how society is. A lot of black people live in urban high crime environments, and dressing a certain way will make people stop and look at you and judge you. Media always shows black people in baggy clothing as being the drug dealers and gangbangers so of course people will jump to that conclusion. A muslim guy in a full garb getting on a plane is going to be treated differently then a muslim guy in a suit and tie with a briefcase. It's the world we live in, everyone has a tinge of racism about something and those who say they don't are fucking lying (and i'm not just talking about white people here, black people are racist, asians are racist(duh) etc etc).
To the people who feel outraged that GZ walked or that GZ's story was bullshit. All of the theorycraft is well and good but ultimately irrelevant as what happened in our reality resulted in a not-guilty charge based on the evidence present.
I'll never believe TM told GZ that "he's going to die tonight" cause that shit is as cliche as fuck. But considering TM called GZ a "creepy cracker" perhaps the kid was a walking oneliner factory.
He CAUGHT them. 2 of the kids were going through a car as he talked to the 3rd.
He fired 2 shots, one hit the front and one hit the back. The fact that the prosecution had no evidence the shot in the back came first was a huge part of the trial.
He was also outnumbered at the time. He also actually told the kids he had called the cops, and had his gun showing, instead of Zimmerman's claim of pretending nothing was wrong when he found Trayvon.
Finally, the fact that it happened in New York meant he actually had to prove it was reasonable for him to have put himself in that situation. That's the only reason he actually went to trial; it was clear beyond any doubt that he had caught people committing a crime and shot one of them in relation to said specific crime they were directly committing right then and there, so his approaching them with a gun, fully shown and known, and clarifying that the cops were on the way, put him in a completely reasonable situation. That burden doesn't exist in Florida beyond the prosecution not being able to prove you were doing something illegal (like starting the fight) at the time.
Regardless, in the end you're just being a jackass trying to equate Trayvon's being black and going to the store in the evening to getting caught breaking into cars drunk at 3am, and that proves my point about the race issue here plenty well enough on its own.
So I can't feel upset that he walked because the hard evidence wasn't there? I'm upset that he walked because a kid died and none of it had to happen. I'm upset that he walked because the prosecution didn't do their job. I'm upset that he walked because it has already lead to more violence. Being "upset that he walked" is a fuckin' perfectly acceptable feeling; the only person your arguments would have any relevance to would be to someone who believes that the jury made the wrong decision following that specific trial, which I don't see anyone arguing here.
And of course I can believe his story is bullshit!
It was a tragedy. If Zimmerman hadn't gotten out of his car Martin would be alive today. Getting out of his car isn't a crime though. If Martin hadn't attacked Zimmerman he'd be alive today. It is the sort of tragedy that happens when 2 people use poor judgment. It is not a one sided unjustified killing, it took the actions of the two to create this tragedy.
How about some outrage for anyone of these,

Now I am not saying white on black violence doesn't happen, just that in the Zimmerman case it wasn't the primary motivator. We all have to acknowledge that black on white crime occurs also. Myself and a lot of other people believe that the person who throws the first punch carries the greater burden of proving justifiable cause to have attacked first. The jury looked at this case and found it reasonable to believe Martin threw the first punch and continued to attack Zimmerman even after he was on the ground. A lot of people talk about how punching someone in the face isn't just cause to use deadly force but that is too simplistic a statement. It is all determined by the circumstances.
If you don't think Martin threw the first punch and continued to attack Zimmerman while he was on the ground and defenseless, that is your opinion, but you should at least acknowledge the fact that you don't know for certain what happened. It is just as reasonable for others to believe Martin did throw the first punch and continued the attack even after Zimmerman was on the ground and helpless. We aren't certain either and we don't know for sure but in the jury's case that uncertainty required that they acquit.
I wish there were a way to have punished Zimmerman for the lack of common sense he showed that night but Murder 2 and Manslaughter weren't fitting. I don't know what happened that night and will never know but in watching the trial and listening to the Prosecution's and the Defense's cases I believed that enough of the Defense's case fit the physical evidence and witness testimony that there was no way to find Zimmerman guilty.
*** About why I put those links in, Well, I was trying to do research on race based crimes in the US and ended up at an FBI website that had some reports on crime statistics.
http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/cv11.pdf
The report stated violent crime with white and hispanic victimization increased 17% from 2010 to 2011. I wanted to find out more about the perpetrators and had a tough time finding estimates on the break down of the perpetrators. It led me to another website:
http://www.judicialwatch.org/blog/20...gainst-whites/
which lead me to several other sites claiming the bulk of that 17% increase in one year was mostly to do black on white/hispanic crime and several sites I won't even link one of which lists 100 cases of such attacks with no provocation other that race. Hell, I don't care if you want to go to it its up to you:
http://whitegirlbleedalot.com and http://whitegirlbleedalot.com/video-...l-bleed-a-lot/
The guy wrote a book and is promoting it, so who knows if he is trying to be just as sensational as the mainstream media, or is a racist, or is genuinely concerned about an issue he sees as an alarming problem that needs to be addressed.
I just believe in leaving people alone to live their lives. Leave me be and I'll leave you be, I don't care what race you are, what sexual orientation you are, what religion you practice or don't. As long as you abided by the same laws I do, you and me will never have a problem. When someone without justification beats, stabs, shoots, rapes or in any other way harms another then we have a right to defend them as we do ourselves. Never attack another accept in selfdefense or defense of another.
It is tough trying to find any legitimate information these days everyone is trying to promote some agenda. I just wanted to see a breakdown of documented acts of violence by race, every race. I wanted to see:
White/Hispanic on White/Hispanic
Asian on Asian
Black on Back
White/Hispanic on Asian
White/Hispanic on Black
Asian on White/Hispanic
Asian on Black
Black on White/Hispanic
Black on Asian
I wanted to see some raw data to make my own conclusions by, but it's hard to find. If anyone has a link please post it.
There are so many things to be outraged about these days. White assholes to hate:

silly Americans there is no such thing as a black man being racist to a white man.
Perhaps we're coming at it from different angles here.
You're well and entitled to feel upset the case didn't go your way and that TM died in the first place because of racial profiling but I feel the whole thing wasted trying to make shit stick on GZ rather than attacking the root problems that led GZ to profile TM. The prosecution did what they could with what little they had and the idea of making 2nd degree murder charges stick was lofty to begin with. I thought maybe they'd get GZ on manslaughter but even that was optimistic to begin with considering the crucial moment that makes this case is cloaked in an information blackout.
More violence? Even if Zimmerman had been imprisoned you'd have had a counter-protest that Zimmerman was offered up as a sacrifice to placate blacks. America sees fit to make everything Red 'n Blue issues.
If the white guy is in a wifebeater you know he sells meth or loves eminem.

There was definitely a thread or some posts about that one here cuz of how insane it is, though.both suspects were in custody by the following day.
De'Marquise Elkins, 17, was charged with first-degree murder as well as eight other counts related to the slaying.
A14-year-old, who has not identified because of his age, has also been charged with first-degree murder as well as seven other counts.

also, love you bamaCops in Mobile, Ala. made their first arrest in the apparent mob beating of Matthew Owens: Terry Rawls surrendered Wednesday on assault charges.
In less than a week, the brutal attack on Owens -- which left him in critical condition -- went from being described as a hate crime connected to the Trayvon Martin killing in Florida to an ongoing feud between neighbors, WKRG reported.
"This here is an ongoing dispute with neighbors, that's what this is," Mobile Police Corporal Chris Levy told the station.

Teryn Robinson, 18, Tray Holland, 19, Justin Alexander, 20, Derick Williams, 22, Kino Jones, 25, and Montrez Jones, 22, have all been charged with assault and battery by a mob.
Now, since people seem to have forgotten quite how this shit went down, go ahead and go back and read the OP and everyone's reactions on the first page upon first hearing the 911 calls while Zimmerman sat free, uncharged, weeks after the murder.
I find it funny that you have no problem believing Scott's statement, but have a huge problem believing Zimmerman's statement. What's your reasoning for that?
The victims cousin who was there at the time claims that they both had their hands up as Scott shot the victim. There's no evidence to contradict that, yet you don't believe it? Why the double standard?
Is it okay to shoot an unarmed teenager committing a petty crime, but not okay to shoot an unarmed teenager physically assaulting you? It was okay for Scott to exit his house to confront the teenagers suspected of committing a petty crime, but not okay for Zimmerman to leave his car to give a dispatcher direction to the area he saw a suspicious teenager? Seriously, if you don't see that you're creating a double standard here, you're an idiot.
