Add: I find it ironic you bring up moral relativism in this situation, considering that school of thought is one of the biggest enemies of religious doctrine, in the way that religion tends to subscribe to a universal moral code, which is obviously incompatible.

I personally don't find much value in moral relativism, when followed through to its logical end it makes no sense.

Well, it is always possible that I am still an idiot. I don't think anyone who is an idiot would label themselves as such. I definitely don't know everything or claim to have a perfect understanding of what is known. I would like to think I am on the right road though.

Explain how that is close minded. I'm working from personal experience here. A prophecy was said about me in my church when I was twelve years old, the specifics I won't go into. I was also told that I had the spiritual gift of discernment of spirits. Everything I wrote was told to me many times over by people in the church when I was young and since then in discussions. Despite being born into that culture, I was unable to accept it as truth and questioned too much. At a very young age before I even knew that science had explanations for how we came to be, I already knew that there was no truth to be found in the religion I was raised in. Too many questions I asked could not be answered and all had the simple reservation of "god is myterious and works in mysterious ways."

The bible is write in one regard though. The truth will set you free. It's just mistaken about what the truth is.

It has less to do with the philosophy presented and more to do with the fact that you jumped in to satirize someone before they even gave their answer.

Moosey is plenty capable of making a fool of himself without you trying to help the process along and making a fool of yourself in the process. It has something to do with that "Listening" thing I mentioned earlier.

Kerb had the right idea. He asked a question that Moosey was free to respond to. You'd have done a lot better to have waited all of 20 minutes before weighing in.

Edit: And for clarity, after listening to what Moosey had to say I'm content to say that I think his reasoning is junk. The difference is I waited for him to tell me what he believed instead of trying to tell him myself.

Well, this thread certainly took off, not quite in the way I was hoping though. For what it's worth, I would like to apologize to Sera, and anyone else that was offended by my comment that she quoted earlier in the thread. It was insensitive of me and I admit I was in the wrong.

You have to realize that the guys on late night infomercial TV who are selling "miraculous God Powered Get Out of Debt Holy Water" don't lend too much credibility to the "most" part of that statement. All of the televangelist/faith healer folks are always asking for you to dig WAY SUPER DEEP IN YO BLESSED POCKETS to get their help. Maybe this is just MY perception, but didn't the bible claim that Jesus did all that shit for free? Just sayin'. It makes the whole thing look like some sort of trashy joke.

You definitely got the first part right. God is always doing things in his own "time", but God's perspective of "time" is not like our own, as he is outside of "time". As for not having enough faith? You either have it or do don't. There is no middle ground where faith is concerned, so "not enough" doesn't really apply here.

I keep hearing things like this; "God is outside time" or "God is outside space". As far as reality is concerned, a good definition of nothing would be something outside space and time.
