It is FGC's worst nightmare currently, but now also a joke. The format and set up is similar to SC2-- two seats, TV screen like a normal tourney (in fact in an arena even), but 0 audience members behind them. That's mistake number one. Yes, they have an even larger audience outside of the arena, but more life comes from having people right behind you watch the match close up on the TV screen or by projection in front of the players. Moot point, but there you go, FGC looks at that type of thing.

Next problem. Too many fucking commercials. If I was paying for the stream for a fighting game and saw THAT many commercials, I'd be pissed the fuck off (was like a commercial after every round, and then a 15~20 minute interlude in between player matches). Eventually people bitched to MLG Sabin enough to have them change the commercial format, but even then it's still pretty annoying.

Finally, the pre and post match interviews by 995 Phil. All of them were exceptionally retarded and a waste of time, this isn't WWE. The pre/post match shit that they did during SCR was just as retarded.

IMO, they should have just ripped off of Level|Up's tournament format and slapped their sponsors of choice all over it. Would have been a huge success.

Seriously though, KOFXIII is a legit as fuck game. Don't blame the game for shitty MLG format, SCR 5v5 was hype as fuck and niggas came out in droves to support. KOFXIII is gonna be hype as fuck at EVO too.

i'm going to take the troll bait. this weekend is one of the biggest majors for the fighting game community in cali, they are supporting their players where they belong. also, i don't think anyone would fly out to lolohio outside of SB to cheer on a 17 man kof13 tournament.

The audience thing isn't mlg's fault. There are plenty of people at the event, not MLG's fault if they don't want to watch. Not excusing other problems, just being fair.

To the guy asking about archives, MLG usually puts everything up like a week after the event in all qaulities for free.

If they had Capcom games, they would have a huge audience watching.

Also, things to take into consideration:

1. The players for these games had almost no notice at all. Players who couldn't get free plane/hotel rides were just completely left out unless they lives near Ohio. There was even less notice for KOF/SC5 than there was MK.

2. Even at FGC events, no crowds line up to watch KOF/SC/MK LOL. Even at EVO, there might have been like 15-20 people watching MK before being forced to on the main stage. That was when 100% of the people were there for strictly FGs and MK was a newer game at the time. No one will ever line up to watch those games like SF/Marvel.

3. This tourney is taking place in Ohio. No offense, but that state sucks. Anyone spending his or her own money this weekend would be going to NCR over Ohio. MLG needs to make sure their tourneys are in better locations.

MLG usually has their events in every section of the US. Anaheim in the West, Orlando in the South, Ohio, etc. It just happens that they decided to have FGs during the Ohio event.

you can rewind the stream using the bar at the bottom or after the event there should be vods

Does the sound just randomly quit working for anyone else? Also, I have to restart the stream on MLG like every 10 minutes. The issue isn't on my end as NCR has gone without a hitch all day and I'm on GDLK work internet.

only issue I had for restarting was if I paused and unpaused a bit it wouldn't work well. If you are using multiple streams for the layout you only get audio for the stream you have selected

When I watched a little last night, I noticed the only resolution that worked best was 360+.. the other two had horrible sound desync issues.
