that changes like every build so dont rush to conclusion, BM hunter was at the top last build
Mage comfortably at the top to the shock and surprise of absolutely no one at all.
jeez. I already played mage for the last three tiers, shit's insane how frost is higher than affliction & all rogue specs
Monks confirmed to be able to get RaF bonus leveling. Kinda meh on that one, I plan to level 1-90 with heirlooms+guild bonus, but that just means we will have a TON of monks who have no idea what the fuck they are doing because they power leveled themselves to 80 right off the bat. Granted this game isn't super "hard" to learn, but this reeks of "dk syndrome" all over again.
Not to mention realm first monk is an achievement for this expansion, so if you're going for it you all but have to do RaF now.
I'm all about that, got 40 levels banked already, need to bank my other 40, aw yeah. You're going to have a ton of monks that don't know what they're doing regardless of how they level, the player base is just that dumb.
Experience required to get from 85-90 was increased by ~55%. So the posts earlier in this thread about it being roughly 20hours playtime to get 85-90 are no longer true.
Beta Experience Required to Level Changed
The amount of experience required to level changed recently in beta, decreasing for a portion of leveling under 85 and significantly increasing with level 85 and onward. See the table below for a rough idea of the changes.
Due to the lack of people leveling in beta, it was hard to get data for some of the level ranges. If you happen to have a character in the questionable level ranges (including Level 82-84), be sure to check and let us know what you find!
You can get a good idea of the XP rewarded by the new quests by glancing over the various Zone Pages on WoWDB.
Code:Level Old XP Requirement New XP Requirement 1-9 Old Same 10-39? Old (-20%) 40-84? Old Same 85-86 10 million 15.5 million (+55%) 86-87 11.6 million 18 million (+55%) 87-88 14.6 million 22.6 million (+55%) 88-89 17.6 million 27.3 million (+55%) 89-90 21.2 million 32.8 million (+55%)
I just read this. I'm not sure why they increased it so much? I haven't leveled much in MoP; mostly played around with the different classes/builds/monks so I'm not sure what the curve is but a 55% increase is a lot.
I just want to make sure everyone knows how much hard work I put into lining up that code text so it looked like a neat table and not sloppy.
I wonder why they did it while the beta is still active. I could understand slipping it in for the release, but when people might still be actively leveling to 90 to participate in testing? Seems counter-productive.
yeah I had messed around with beta a bit when cap was still 86 but not really since, was planning on getting into it a bit more next week, but yeah fuck that now lol
Reading all the bitching on DK tank, I'm sure these people just suck.
I clearly remember when 4.0 was released before cata got released and it was "the end of the world" i had 0 fucking problems tanking/holding AOE threat.
I believe I'm just that much better than everyone. hah. I'm sure the coming change would give me no impact. With clever taunting, gripping, heart striking and precise DnD/blood boil usage I'm really confident this is no problem.
I'll probably eat my words next month but still ...
Well, that's the thing about Blizzard. Skilled players are able to compensate fairly well when they fuck something up, and are able to at least remain valuable to their groups... if the group is already aware of their skill as a player. If you're finding a new group, or suck... it really fucks you over when your class isn't the fotm.
I only recently did some blood tanking as of 4.3 (or w/e patch we're in right now) for bags, so I didn't know how we were doing back in T11 and 12 content, but I don't know man. To me DK's active mitigation model has always made the better players shine even more just with how our tanking is done, and the bad players suck total ass. But now that all tanks are going active mitigation, and every other tank is getting raid wide cooldowns and more ways to keep AoE threat w/o sacrificing mitigation it seems we are actually getting the short end. I mean we only have 3 sets of runes to Death Strike/Absorb shield ourselves with, but we also need said runes for DnD and Blood Boil. At least we don't have to put our diseases up anymore thanks to the talent, but with challenge modes and shit you know it's going to be all about pulling MASSIVE groups, CCing maybe 1 or 2 and AoE cleaving down the rest. Even if DKs cant handle it and not die, if they take too much damage and drain healer mana more then any other tank, we're getting benched unless you already have a group you're in with, then it won't really matter.
Honestly on the dps side, i'm pretty sad about how stagnant and unchanging our dps is. Sure now we weave in Soulreaper as frost (still doesnt do as much dmg as Unholy) but more of our shit is unchanged. Our lvl 90 talents are very gimmicky and probably only worth it in a very very few situations while most every other class at least gets something fun to look forward to at 90. Remorseless winter should so major dmg to stun immune mobs imo to make it worthwhile in pve for dps specs.
From what I have read we're still squishy as all fuck in pvp and just paper cannons in plate, though with soul reaper and playing 100% offense as UH or Frost we can usually kill most classes (but most classes are pumping out the same damage as we are with better survivability).
I want Unbreakable Armor back baseline for frost to make us not glass cannons, and frigid deathplate, just the armor from Unbreakable since the str % is roped into PoF now. I want one of our lvl 90 talents to be Shadow of Death, because that shit was fucking amazing, and with out easy we die right now, who really cares if we come back as a ghoul for 20 seconds? I mean back in WoTLK with Death Strike we were powerhouses and tanks in every spec, but that's not the case now so what's the point. Sure a blood dk could spec into it, but as a ghoul you don't get death strike so all anyone has to do is focus you down.
Edit: Reading Death Pact's tooltip on the calculator I think it will be a great heal at the START of the expansion and worthless towards the middle and end if it works like warlock healthstones and other % healing abilities where it is based off your BASE health and doesn't factor in your stam from gear. Has this been tested in beta? someone strip down, death pact your ghoul and then wear armor and do the same.
Also....why do paladins get an instant cast AoE CC that disorients for 6 seconds....but STILL death knights are punished for having instant cast hungering cold.
I see, then I find it really sad that some people have to depend on being the fotm to be able to shine lol
While I appreciate that class balance is really hard to get right, I'm sure given enough skill or knowledge or just general "not sucking" you can still remain (somewhat) competitive. Maybe not competitive enough for world firsts or that kind of hardcore, but
I recalled a frost mage in 4.1/4.2 getting shit on by the raid leader during a pug only to have him top or #2 most meters lol

Meresgi - I think this case, I like my array of short cooldowns. Blowing Vamp Blood, Anti Magic Shell and Dancing Rune Weapon liberally would really ease it up for everyone involved. I do agree with what you mean about DKs, the runes and how we're getting shafted, but I believe with a bit of patience and adaptability, you should be able to overcome it.
And if we do get benched, good. I can stop raiding hahahaha. I just want a break that's all ...
I'm not in the interest to DPS lately so I haven't been really following.
As much negativity Blizzard gets by players over balance and their decisions, at the end of the day, I'm not as dedicated/serious anymore, I prefer to be more relaxed/easy going, and they are a games company with many people/designers at their side. I trust their judgement (despite the track record) overall.
Oh it's totally possible to use skill to counter how hard Blizzard bends you over in this game, but eventually you it becomes a case of "Do I really want to drag a boulder up a cliff?" and people just hop to w/e is the FoTM. I consider dks competitive in dps right now, though I quit raiding back just as we had heroic spine to 4% so not sure what the standings are in full heroic gear, and I never tanked. In pvp skill can easily propel any class to 2200+ but just factoring in the overwhelming majority of rogue/xx/xx teams in 3s in my battlegroup it's just such a fucking pain lol. Doesnt help our ret pally won't even log on to play ret/dk/ret for lulz at the end of the season.
I can agree with that, it's one of the reasons I will be going monk and seeing how I like it. I just need a change of pace and a new perspective and since i'm not very casual due to school the start of MoP is a great time to class change, will be very strange not having death grip thoughAs much negativity Blizzard gets by players over balance and their decisions, at the end of the day, I'm not as dedicated/serious anymore, I prefer to be more relaxed/easy going![]()
