Hilarious because I'm a white woman. Well done. And I hardly think that being upset that a white guy went free after killing an unarmed black minor in an area of florida that is known for its rampant racism is "over use of the race card" but yeah, please keep talking.

It doesn't matter what race you are. I still find you play the "It's because of their race" card too often.

How often is too often? One thread where it's actually the reason why someone was killed?

It's come up in multiple threads aside from that one. How often is too often? There is no objective standard. That's why I prefaced with "I still find" rather than asserting a universal truth. The claim was an opinion and others are free to disagree if they want.

You backpedaled on the "well it's only MY OPINION" tip after you got called out on your bullshit.

Seems like pretty definitive language to me before you got called out. THEN you started with the limpwristed "only my opinion" and "i find that" shit. But yeah, keep talking.

You flat out said I'd only like a politician who was black, because he was black. For the sake of argument I'll allow you to backpedal like a coward and say it has to do with me "playing the race card too much" (lol, except Milkster just nailed you on that point) and being "only your opinion" not take it as the blatant personal attack it was meant to be. You're wrong.

You're probably one of those not-dark people who lives in a fairy tale dreamland where "their America" isn't racist in 2012!

I'm half Jamaican and half Chinese (Only a US citizen through naturalization). Both of them, historically, are oppressed by both Americans, Africans (Those that shipped them off), and the Japanese. It makes your accusation hilarious.

The implication and joke was actually that you hate white politicians because they're white. That you are white wouldn't change the opinion.

I'll entertain the edit by agreeing with your reason for supporting him but still thinking he's not a candidate worth supporting.

No, east of VA. In my opinion, the best state.

East of VA? Either you meant the eastern part of VA or you meant Maryland (sort of?)

VA is a good place, I grew up in Richmond. Shitty politicians are fucking it up.
    BTW, VA is the south.

MD, but you're still right; it is considered the south. Guess I have to start siding with Day on lolsouth jokes! I originally thought of the US as East/West coast and then mid-north/south, but google to the win again.

    yeah MD is technically south

i think southern minorities are so used to how southern white folks treat them, that they don't realize it's a lot of subtle racism

If you're in line in front of me at a DMV-area Chipotle, it's not racial. I hate everyone.

VA does not = Alabama. I won't suggest it is some magic utopia state that is seperate from everything else, but from my own personal perspective, the assumption that south automatically = racist biggots galore seems like a joke, mostly coming from naive 20 somethings who haven't been too far outside their comfort zone.

Malcolm X had more to say about the reality of racism in the north. Read up on it.

My grandfather grew up in Piney, VA, in a poor rural community. In that area there was no biggotry going on, mainly based on the fact that everyone was poor and struggling. Later on when he married my well off grandmother, and he had started his own contracting business building houses, he sometimes had black employees visit the house. They came in the front door and apparently it drove my grandmother mad because she did grow up with racist parents. She told him to tell them to go around back and let them come in the back door of the house. He basically told her to go fuck herself. Later on when my uncle played high school football, my grandfather would give black players a ride home if they needed it. He didn't give a shit and I'm proud personally that my heritage is like that. There are always people who are enlightened enough, and then brave enough to stand up for what they know is right, regardless of where they live, so to discount a whole section of the country, partially because of geography, and partially from personal ignorance, is in itself one of the worst forms of ignorance and biggotry I can personally imagine.

You wouldn't know because you're used to it, but white people in MD/VA are all a little racist without even realizing it, & non-white people have all just gotten used to it and don't notice.

LOL if you consider Alabama or Mississippi to be "subtle" in their racism. They're fucking blatant.

Generalizations are bad, unless its generalizing some people for possibly being racist based off of geographical stereotypes by ignorant people. This is one of the dumbest posts ive ever seen on an internet forum, period.

Not to mention the subtle racism of you basically saying minorities in MD/VA are too stupid to realize they are being subjected to secret inherent southern racism.

P.S. MD is not the south. Ask someone in the deep south and they will tell you VA isn't even the south.

Yes, I know what 'subtle' and 'used to it' mean. I'm asking what incident happened to me that I should consider racist.

Edit: @Siatdiat, there's "The south" and then there's "The deep south." Wiki says MD is a part of the former but not a part of the later. The former characterization hardly makes sense given MD's overwhelming minority population, democrat stronghold, and Casa de Maryland, but Sera is a racial expert so I'll take her word for it.

Any little white ladies clutch their purses a little tighter when you pass em on the sidewalk? How about the ones that just plain cross the street to avoid you? I saw it ALL the time at home in VA. I see it in NY too but not even half as much. I used to be guilty of shit like that myself. Took someone pointing it out to me to see what I'd been taught.

And nah, some people do just hate everyone. There's a word for that -- but it isn't racism. Some people are just genuinely misanthropic.

MD is technically southern yes. Is it as southern in mannerism as VA? Not IMO. I cannot stand MD for other reasons though so I try to avoid it at all costs. But comparing racism in AL to racism in VA is laughable. That doesn't mean they're not both racist places.
