I go by the HP changing. If you haven't taken off 10% of it's HP yet, it'll appear as if it has refilled to 100%. If you've taken off more than 10% of it's HP, it's HP will go up (but not quite to 100%).

Problem is, with most things these days, especially things you'd be BST at anyways, it doesn't take long to take off that first 10% even without the slug.

DRK tier 2 merits? Diabolic eye +40 acc 5/5 for 3m seems nice for high end content, don't see dark seal much use aside from trying to proc something in VW. Also is Abyss gauntlets +2 augment to Diabolic eye still unknown?

5/5 Desperate Blows, 4/5 DE, 1/5 Dark Seal.

Seal has same timer as Nether Void, so it basically guarantees a 600+ Drain 2 each time it is up.

Increases the timer 30seconds.

Hey all~ I'm thinking of re-buying FFXI and starting over. I played on EU release for 5-6 years then left, so I know what it was like back then.

My questions are: Does the game welcome new players? Is the game still semi-alive before 75? Any tips for starting new? Last time I was here they pretty much told me to buy an account, lol.

You won't be able to level like you used to, but you can just solo to ~30-49 with FoV. You can seek while doing it and will occasionaly get a party invite, which usually will have a PL.
Once 30 try and get/make a abyssea party to leech to 99, and then start on skilling up. This month they are making genkais easier for newer players.

16 genbu scraps without a single enhancing aug on k.pole then the next 12 gave me 4 augs with the highest being +8.

With windower, why does POL always 100% crash if I DC and try to log back on?(like right when the blue screen comes up after the disclaimer and before you see the title screen)

Doesn't crash for me, but sometimes autotranslate shows up in Japanese if I re-login after a d/c. So I just exit all the way out and start the game again.

Happens to me enough that I always just close out the game even when I lose my connection. Sadly, I think that is about the best solution.

When I used to use FFXIView it gave me the same status effect icon as Blood Rage so I'm thinking it boosts Critical Attack Bonus but I'm not sure.

I used to use it in campaign alot definitely boosts non crit dmg as I'd used it on non crit ws and blu spells. Never really got around to really testing it though. If you can get that stupid alchemist on your side you can test it in campaign to your hearts desire though

In Salvage, it is ~2x damage on your next hit.

My friend just recently restarted after 3 years of being gone. The game has never been more friendly to new players as it is now.
