I already have a lvl99 str axe and now building the DA version. I have seen a few posts that suggest player to mainhand DA (dmg = 37 + 41) and offhand STR (dmg = 74) because the DA axe has higher total dmg. But I read somewhere before that the augmented dmg doesn't take into account when calculating the weapon rank. Does the augment dmg boost up weapon rank? If it doesn't, then mainhand STR is better?

The augment from magian weapons does boost the weapon rank, and even if it didn't the DA Axe would still be a better/equivalent mainhand.

Thanks. Also found a testing by Radec confirming that the augment dmg from magian weapon boosts up the weapon rank.

I think there's some in the tunnels on the way to the Chamber of Oracles (enter from W. Altepa D-12), have you checked there?

Yes, I think there are several in that area - remember them from the Star Spinel quest a long time ago. There are also Spelunking Sabotenders hanging around (use 1000 needles but I'm not sure if they'll aggro to 99).

Sanguine blade is pretty great if the mob doesn't resist dark damage, or cataclysm if AOE brewing.

In addition to ones mentioned, Herculean Slash is decent, or you can use a sub that lets you use Aeolian Edge as well.

The best single target WS WAR can have for it is Cloudsplitter, if you happen to have access to it.

Thanks for the suggestions for War brew WS. I'm only looking to brew Shinryu. Last time I tried Cataclysm it didn't go so well. I don't have Cosmos or Ultimate on my main so I was stuck using VV, Smiting, and I forget the 3rd.

I recently brewed it on my mules Blu using Ultimate, MM, Smiting and Sanguine Blade was doing around 7.7k each WS.

Shinryu is dark resistant as far as I know, so yeah not the best option.

There would be 2 tough things - Killing 100% of the gears in time, and the first pull on the 4F-CC side.

If you skip either part/all of the S/W rooms on 3F, just doing 3F-W for GG3 time should be alright, just potential to have trouble if you link the entire room on 4F - can kite/deagg some but that wastes time.

Boss itself will be no trouble.

For shinryu, even something like raging rush(obv ukko's if you have it) is probably fine. Set RR GH SS as normal so it's easier to proc/break mighty guard. Earth Crusher should do alright as well, but it's only shinryu, long as you can kill it inside of 3mins of brew time it's not like you need to optimize it to get multiple kills per brew.

*most* of the currency will still come from pouches, you're looking at avg 12.5/pouch x4 = 50 there, and maybe ~30 from drops if you clear all the gears/ramps.

3F
S room, 4 gears/4 ramps
W room, 4 gears/4 gear/4 ramps
E room, 4 gears/4 gear/4 ramps/GG3

4F
10gears/6gear(train)/4ramps

Even with really clean pulls, you're looking at minimum 5 ramps (1 3F-E door, 4 4F CC) 4gear/4gears (GG3 pop) - and realistically you'll want to kill most of the 10gears/6gear on F4 as well, and w/e ramps you aggro in 3F-E. Of the 52 alex-dropping things available, you'll need/want to kill 29-32 of them skipping the S/W rooms, so only cut from ~30 freefall alex to ~20.

Maybe blu can kill it a lot faster than I expect, but first time you try it, imo, aim to skip 3F S/W, and check how much time is left after boss vs how long the E room takes to clear. W room will be a little longer because the adds spawn before ramps aggroed, but pretty similar.
