Apoc then Rag would be my suggestion. I'm trying to convince myself to do Amano but I couldn't tell you the last time I played the job. I wouldn't recommend Yoichi. SAM is pretty lack luster at the moment and if you wanna do a RNG weapon do Anni.

I actually got on it for ADL, I think what we forget is that in 10s no job drops as much damage as SAM lol.

After recently returning decided to level BST. What are thoughts on merit distribution. Will be soloing or partying with small groups most likely. Here's what I currently have:

5/5 Reward Timer
5/5 Call Beast
2/5 Feral Howl
5/5 Beast Affinity
3/5 Beast Healer

Wondering if Beast Affinity needs more than 1 merit since most pets already cap out at 99 when called.

Well I'd almost change reward to something else probably sic recast. I find myself coming against sic/ready timers way more than reward and pets actually have good moves now but alot of them costing 2-3 charges. Killer effects might be interesting... at least when you hitting things that it works on.

As you said most pets are already 99 so I'd take everything out of affinity. I'd go 5/5 beast healer partly to make the lost of recast not as bad. Plus with af2+2 feet that's 10 regen on top of whatever the pet has. Personally never really saw a huge use in feral howl. Basically like a sudden lunge with a 5 min timer lol.

Though I'm sure you can make arguments against killer instinct too. But if you can utilize it it is +15% dmg dealt -15% dmg taken and +15 intimidation rate 80% of the time if fully merited with helm. And from byrths testing seems like the you still get the boost in dmg from Killer effect potency when wearing Gausape +2. So when you can use it it's kinda a big deal... but obviously all beastmen and anything under other circle effects wont work for it. And I think nightmare mobs don't work either

In low haste situations I believe Assassin's Poulaines +2 pull ahead, and Thamus Kecks if you need accuracy. Not sure if Portus Collar beats Rancor (if you have it), and Love Torque (or Agasaya's Collar) are good if you don't want the DT+ on Rancor. Also Demonry Ring > Rajas in Abyssea, and Athos Boots are beaten by a few things in Abyssea so I have Dusk feet +1 for that (there's also Ghadhab Nails if you have them) This set I'm still figuring out since it's only at 25% haste but I'm still pretty sure Raider's Culottes > Thaumus Kecks unless you approach high-ish Haste situations.

Anwig Salade / Justiciar's Torque / Brutal Earring / Moonshade TP+
Athos' Tabard / Raider's Armlets +2 / Thundersoul Ring / Epona's Ring
Rancor Mantle / Cuchulain's Belt / Heca Subligar +1 / Kacura Leggings +1

This is for Abyssea since I use Exen outside, not sure what you're going for but if you need an outside build this should be a good starting point... Nefarious Collar prolly wins over Justiciar's (even in Abyssea), outside maybe even Love Torque (not sure). Anwig has Crit/WS dmg+ on it, not sure what to use outside Abyssea. Aias was best once upon a time but there is prolly better now. Could maybe trade Thundersoul for Rajas outside.

EDIT: I was going over the Thaumus Kecks vs Raider's Culottes +2 thing again and it's looking really close in varying situations so someone else might have to give a more elaborate answer on that one... I'm interested too now lol

Thank you, Thank you! Still building gear sets and such, so I'll play around with those and see what suits me best.

For inside maybe even outside for evisceration I'd say Oce +1 head if you don't have anwig. Also athos boots. Since you almost garunteedly capping fstr.

Also if you did that stupid head seal quest and got a good jupiter ring there is that. But I wouldn't do it just for that. I'm like 0/400 in getting one with any attack let alone 6 lol. Wanion Belt outside

Also think Toci's should probably be in there just not sure if only outside or not.

So is a 99 Aegis PLD with 50% MDT from Shell/Gear completely immune to magic damage?

Caps at 87.5%, so 99Aegis+shell5+~12% in gear is capped

For nin which will prase higher

1) 21% haste & 5% DW

2) 28% haste (yes i know caps at 26)

If you're only getting haste and not Embrava or Marches then Koga +2 are preferable.
