But you've interrogated, studied, lived with and befriended plenty of Sunni Arabs - or rather, since you have not, your experience is far less broad than mine.
In fact, the only reason the US has any problem with AmericaJr is because of our instillation of the Shah, then Sadaam Hussein and then our two-sided deals prior to invading Iraq. Iranian's were not largely involved in the proxy war with Russia (in fact, some arms were moved through here to Pakistan) and were not involved in a proxy war of their own in Iraq until we ignored their peace offering and set out to establish another Sunni based power to their West. It wasn't until this became apparent that the rise of Muqtada al-Sadr occurred, along with the supply of weapons, ammunition, etc, through the support of the IRGC-QF. What scares the US the most now is that Iran has become the defacto imperial power in the ME and is seeking to establish itself across the Gulf of Oman and project it's naval power with bases in Africa - all the while establishing strong bonds through nearly the same level of humanitarian support that US has given to Iraq and Afghanistan in the hopes of ensuring loyal neighbors.
