Using one of three sick days I get for the year on the second work day of the year.
There have been company-wide security emails being circulated around these past two weeks. Apparently a former employee let go before Christmas made threats upon exit. Yesterday afternoon's email circulated pictures of 4 employees let go because they don't know the source of the threats. It's like Wanted posters. Security guards have been posted in the front lobby...
The additional fail is that there was not additional security posted at 2 other buildings.
So yea what a way to start a new year! We're already stressed and this is layered on top of it!
I feel like we had this discussion in this thread a while back.
I, too, get three sick/personal days per calendar year and it sucks.
We also get three days bereavement for death of an immediate family member only.
And two week's vacation days.
I like feedback, I don't like to be bullshitted. I am being thanked and praised for responding one time to something I watched develop over many years and ignored even when asked dozens of times by various parties to get involved. In fact I think I have been asked my entire life to be involved with this. I even said "Don't think this is a way to get my attention. I won't be involved if this happens again."
Just see that as ironic because it is.
So tips of my toes and the fingers on one hand are getting all splotchy red like blood is pooling up under the skin kind of like a bruise but stays bright red. I'm no doctor but I'm pretty sure that means I need to see the doctor.
Lupus.
I get zero paid sick days every year
But I do get 4 weeks paid vacation plus 5 paid floater days(similar to a sick day I guess, can use it for anything really), and next year I get my 5th week vacation, so hurray to that!
Hung up with regret over how my weekend/NYE went and having a few days off hasn't helped. Incredibly dumb to waste my time on "what if" and thinking about what I should have done, but it's still there.
Glad to be getting back to work and maybe my mind will move on.
Co-worker left the office at 9:30am this morning, asked me to cover for her, said she had to go pick up her mom who had gotten arrested. Her mom is in her late eighties. lol
Small company benefits over here.
I can pretty much take off as much time as I want but with the proviso that I'm available remotely with no loss of productivity if needed. That said, I rarely take extended time off unless it's around the holidays and I know my bosses will be out of office.
I'll start having a mandatory 2 weeks for securities fraud stuff next year I think.
My company is fairly small, but because of that we don't have the staff to cover. There are 5 project managers working on 20 or so projects; we have 16-18 supervisors working the same 20 projects.
