My sick leave is weird. Like first year we implemented it we started halfway thru so we capped at 24 hours for the year which I earned in just a couple of months and figured that was as much as I can accumulate a year. But then a few months ago started getting them again so maybe it's capped at 3 days per semester or something? Either way before a year ago we got none but basically could call in sick whenever technically using vacation days or not if you don't need the hours... but that usually implies getting ahead and/or having someone else that can cover.
I am negative in PTO by a matter of weeks or months or something last time I checked.
Thus I will only be spending 3 weeks in Europe this time.
Doesn't extended health coverage some of those sick days?

I submitted a vacation request for 7 days today. By the time I get back from vacation, I will still have 25.xx days of PTO stocked up. Fuck I'm a workaholic.
And if I didn't take off, I would be maxing out and losing time come April.
So my manager said in a meeting today the new security guards are most likely going to be permanent because the higher ups really think someone may bomb or shoot up my work. What a world we live in.
Additional fail though for security guards: They were plain clothes and no one knew who the hell they were. Starting next week they will be uniformed.
Fuck one of my shifters stopped working mid ride and that set of gears shifted to the highest gear and wont change. fml
We've had to hire security guards before when we've let people go. Not sure what it's like where you're from but up here(Canada) they're unarmed, and usually the size of a full grown peanut lol
In the event someone was to lash out I wouldn't ever see how any of the security guards we've had would be able to do anything, except maybe call the police faster then anyone else would be able to.
It's mostly just a due diligence thing, if the company has received a threat and they do nothing about it, then something happens to another of their employees they'd be held accountable by all means, so they're just covering their asses
One of my subordinates tonight in a nutshell.

I work in a call center as tech support for one of the largest cable providers in the country, so while they haven't said it, I suspect turnover has been pretty high. they've cranked up the benefits to help stem the tide so I get 80 hours of vacation a year (half carries over), plus I think like 4 float days, plus whatever sick time we accrue, plus all the financial and insurance benefits I think I mentioned before. this is all at entry level with $15/hr, which for this area is actually a livable wage.
my random fail, tho: on Wednesday I ran out on a customer mid-call cos I almost shit myself. they had us working on one of those silly "fun" skits/songs where you make it about the company and whatever, and I forgot to take my anti-diarrheal. Whoops. It's thrown my poops out of schedule today, too. fortunately, i'm in what is called "nesting" where we basically have more experienced people there to help us out, and one happened to be right there so I told him i had a customer as I was running to the bathroom. Got back and he was wrapping up the call, so customer was fine. Dunno what he said to her about why I left tho lol.
"Sorry, my coworker had to go do literally anything but talk to you."
I'm lucky. Every year I get four floating holidays, 7 management days, plus I accrue 3 weeks of vacation (cap at 6) and thirteen sick days (caps at 1500 hours). Joys of being union working in local government
I don't accrue anything. Use it or lose it. Obviously I'm going to use it.
Bane I think it's so adorable how excited/optimistic you are over your call center job. I did the same thing for DirecTV for eight months and it made me want to kill everyone. I can't wait to see your progression go from happy to be here to I'm gonna cut a bitch that says something stupid.
lol. that's what everyone says but idk man I think I can take it.
Invited to the inauguration....gf (super Hillary supporter) having major meltdown. Hnnnngh
28 days + 8 holidays, no sick time. can't complain about that
