black and blue for the beating crosby is gonna recieve this year!
oh wait this isnt the NHL thread? I thought it was based on the recent posters.
13 year old Black Lab I grew up with is having seizures now (we were worried he had a stroke last night, but thankfully it wasn't that). Took him to the vet, he's taking Valium while they get some bloodwork done on him. Made for an extremely stressful night yesterday, he was obviously in pain and confused and I was totally unprepared for this because while he's old and his hips are starting to get a little weak for all intents and purposes he was fine and we expected at least another year or two with him.
Gonna have to play it by ear over the weekend but it's not like we can afford any fancy treatment so if this doesn't resolve itself or can be fixed cheaply we're gonna have to put him down.
What a terrible way to start the weekend.
Today I was cashiering at the retail store i work at and this older lady walks up talking to herself. I ask her what she said and said "oh i was just thinking aloud and began to say (in reference to me) this fat a** M* F* N* doesn't hold no holds on me and started talking about how she don't take no crap. I reply'd with laughter saying well at least you stand firm on your beliefs while she started talking about all the white men she had dated and couldn't keep up with her, after cursing me a little bit more i told her to have a nice day and she said you as well and god bless and walked off.... DA HELL??? *facepalm*
i dont understand
I'm guessing you've never worked a retail job? It sucks when somebody starts ranting about anything and there is nothing you can do. Its not like you can just walk away from them if you are on a register. That sounded like average crazy. I've had to listen to everything from birther rants about Obama to some lady crying about the abortion she had in college 20 years ago. All you can do is smile and hope they go away.
Definite feels man. My dachshund slowly went blind because of kushing's disease. It was a disturbing and difficult situation to deal with (she had lots of fear and confusion at night especially). She ended up living a few more years after that before I had to put her down from a seperate issue. Anyways what I'm trying to say is, just because it's having trouble doesn't mean it's going to kick the bucket soon. Though it could. Just make sure you're thinking of what's best for the dog and try to put your own feelings aside as best you can. It's not always clear the difference between the dog having a temporary hard time, and something that's not going to stop. Try not to beat yourself up about it too much whichever way it goes.
Yesterday I was in the airport waiting for my bags and a fat black woman in a big yellow shirt came up behind me and started yelling at me not to "use her shadow," "I have a master's degree," "go back to school," "RESPEKT," etc. She eventually tired herself out and went to buy a pretzel.
Good to be back in Philly.
Took two hours to get into Manhattan...normally takes 30min. Fuck you MTA.
Then I got into Manhattan and realised why MTA decided to fuck with EVERY LINE I TRIED to use ( over 5) today....because the city is dead. Streets are practically empty.
Kui, there's a site similar to Kickstarter that allows people to get help with medical procedures and such for their families, loved ones, or pets called Give Forward. A friend of mine started one recently when her dog fractured a few bones and needed surgery. Check it out if you're interested and in need of financial support. It's worth a shot.
An update to this story. This woman and I are now dating after she asked me for another chance after she broke up with her 1-2 week boyfriend.
However, here's where it gets hilarious.
A few years back, my family lost our house in a lawsuit and the bank took possession of the property. A family then committed fraud to gain access to the house from the bank and has been living there for a little over two years. We sued that family and got the house back and $30,000 from the lawsuit. Her grandparents are the ones we won the house back from.
My plan: Keep riding it out until it eventually reveals itself and act surprised that I had no idea.
She chose the other guy over you, then when that didn't work she went to you? Sounds like you're her fallback guy there man. I would've laughed and said no when she asked. Not trying to be mean or anything, hope I'm completely wrong, but you might keep your guard up around that one.
I'm not putting a lot of investment into any relationships because I'm still legally married.
You're half right though, she did choose that other dude over me. She had told me that she thought I ended things with her because I busted the "let's be friends" card. I told her that wasn't the case, and a few days later she breaks up with him to ask me out. So it just depends on which angle you look at it from.
The main thing I'm worried about is her finding out my family sued her grandparents for a house and a lump sum of cash.
twist: she reads BG
Thanks. He seems to be doing better. Got his appetite back and he's been drinking lots of water. The Valium is working, though we lowered his dosage because he was so drugged up that he could barely walk, but now he's responsive and can walk around pretty good. I don't know if we'd go so far as to use that site because he's 13 and Labs generally only live to be 13-15 so we'd have to weigh what kind of quality of life he'd have even if we were to get treatment to extend his life. We'll get the results of the blood work on Tuesday though, and we'll know exactly what we're dealing with. If it's something like a tumor that's pushing on his brain then the medication for that would destroy his liver which would just be prolonging the inevitable, with horrible side-effects.
I've used so much pleasantry/soft skills/positive attitude at work since my last stint where I got in trouble with 1 person for sarcasm someone I used to work with but was banished to a room full time (so we haven't interacted much) said I've lost all personality and I'm now a robot
I'm quite proud of that title haha
Update on dog:
His kidneys are failing, so basically all we can do is make sure he drinks a ton of water, have him on anti-seizure meds and other dietary stuff until he doesn't want to eat or drink anymore, at that point we have to put him down.
Basically he's a time-bomb now but we could have him for as long as another year, it just depends on when his kidneys decide they don't want to work anymore.
