I'm assuming the complaint isn't that it's implausible that someone's working all those hours but that they're not offering any sort of alternate timetable. If my personal investment is low enough that we're still in the getting coffee stages, I'm not gonna throw out more than 2 different suggestions for times to meet up without reciprocation. Anything more (eg, "Are you free Wednesday? No? Thursday? Friday? Saturday?") starts to feel desperate and weird.

I mean for shit's sake I'm a PTSD-sufferer working his way through rejection and I'm doing damn well, all things considered. Not perfect, but getting better at this. What I think some people on BG don't realize about me - or don't care to realize, because who takes internet peeps seriously anyway - is that I know I'm crazy. I'm working on changing that but it's a slow process. So whether you're just being a dick or honestly trying to help, I really do appreciate when people challenge me on this shit. It helps me to get a healthier perspective outside of my anxiety-based thinking.

I mean, tbf after 2 attempts if I still maintained some interest I would probably just say "When are you free?" myself but when people are already giving one line answers and not being proactive about offering alternatives my experience has been that the only response you really get to that is something along the lines of "idk I work a lot" and it's either a soft pass that dragged on too long or the other party has no idea how to interact with people and neither is really an avenue I'd care to explore.

During my stint with online dating, that was the conclusion I had most of the time. You'd either get stalker-esque people who'd want to talk for 8 hours a day, sending multiple messages an hour trying to get your attention, the people with nothing but a couple word responses with no engagement, or just ghosting. Feels like it took a great amount of effort to find someone that's just a normal person, or wants to meet up to better get to know each other. I get that a lot of people have had luck with it, but IMO you're better off just getting acclimated to a bar or eatery and taking your shots there. Feels more productive and engaging at least.
